In anticipation of Freddie’s First Christmas 2018

In anticipation of Freddie’s First Christmas 2018

Over the last few weeks I’ve been sharing Baby’s First Christmas interviews with some of my fellow bloggers who have babies who are celebrating their first Christmas this year. It’s been wonderful to read all about other peoples plans for their Baby’s First Christmas with some going all out with the crafts and festive clothing and some taking a more relaxed approach. I couldn’t let the occasion pass without writing our own response to some of the questions asked so thought I’d write them and share some of my favourite festive photographs from the last few weeks.

Baby First Christmas

What are your plans for the lead up to Christmas?

Christmas has crept up on us this year although we did start the festive celebrations back in November when we were all invited to Drayton Manor’s Magical Christmas event. We have had very busy weekends since October half term and there’s no sign of it slowing down as we’ve got plans this weekend too. It’s not all work and no play though as the boys have been kept entertained in one way or another.

Will you be starting any new traditions or keeping up with any old ones?

We aren’t starting any new traditions but keeping up with a few old ones instead. I’ve put together the boys a Christmas Eve box and I’ve made family gift baubles with photographs of the boys in. I started this with Olly five years ago and I love doing it. They’re well received too. Other traditions we have is to put a mince pie, milk and a carrot out for Santa and Rudolph and Olly sprinkles Magic Reindeer Food outside the house on Christmas Eve. We’ll introduce those traditions to Freddie this year and although he’s too young to know what is going on, it’ll keep him involved and we can take some photographs. Another tradition is to send our immediate family a Christmas card with a festive photograph on and I’ve done that again this year.

How will you all be spending Christmas Day?

We will spend Christmas morning at home opening up presents from each other and then we’ll go over to the in-laws for breakfast (bacon rolls) and to exchange more gifts. We’re having Christmas dinner at the in-laws this year (we alternate it between both sets of our parents) and then we’ll go over to my Parents house in the afternoon where we’ll join my Parents, Sister and Nephew for more gifts and family fun.

What will Freddie be wearing on Christmas Day?

Elf Baby

I have bought him many a festive outfit. He’s had an elf sleep suit, a Santa sleep suit as well as other festive jumpers and clothing. I think we’ll keep it simple for Christmas Day with a Christmas sleep suit so he’s comfortable.

What gifts will you be buying for Freddie’s first Christmas, if any?

We’ve got Freddie a few gifts to open on Christmas Day. He’s got a Fisher Price Dance and Move Beat BowWow and a couple of other toys but they’re quite small and inoffensive. I’m sure he’ll be inundated with gifts from family and friends so we haven’t got him much.

Will you be making any Christmas crafts with Freddie this year?

Yes, we’ve made Christmas pictures painting Freddie’s feet. We did it back in November on a day when Olly was poorly so both the boys got messy in paint at the same time.

What are you most looking forward to this Christmas and how are you going to make it special?

I’m looking forward to seeing Freddie’s reaction to wrapping paper and boxes. This was one of Olly’s favourite things on Christmas Day and I remember him sitting in a box my Brother-in-law had bought gifts in and he loved it. It’s going to be special just with family, we don’t have to be doing anything in particular, just enjoying the moment and being present with them.

Will Freddie be visiting Father Christmas this year? And do you still believe?

Drayton's Magical Christmas

Freddie has met Father Christmas a handful of times already in the last couple of months (such a bloggers son!) He met him at Drayton Manor’s Magical Christmas, at a local garden centre; Wyevale Shenstone and Blists Hill Victorian Town. He wasn’t phased at all by him as he had his big brother keeping him company. Yes, of course, you need a little bit of magic in your life!
