Continuing my nosey at Baby’s First Christmas plans, traditions and practices, is an interview with fellow blogger Sanna who’s daughter Aija will be celebrating her first Christmas this year.
Hello Sanna, can you tell me a bit about yourself and your family?
Hi, we are a family of Mum, Dad and two girls aged five years and six months. We live in North London. My name is Sanna and I work in research (although I am now on maternity leave), my husband works as a graphic designer. Our older daughter loves swimming and ballet, and our baby loves standing up and hitting things!
What are your plans for the lead up to Christmas?
In the lead up to Christmas we will probably just try relax, do some easy crafts and baking and enjoy the Christmas lights. And of course see Santa and see some sights in London!
Will you be starting any new traditions or keeping up with any old ones?
I used to always watch It’s a Wonderful Life on Christmas Day and bawl my eyes out. I probably won’t have time for it with kids and going to see family on the actual Christmas Day, so will do this on Christmas Eve. Additionally, every year we also do a Finnish Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve (as that’s where I’m originally from) and will continue this tradition.
How will you all be spending Christmas Day?
We will get up, open presents from Santa, have scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast, host some family members for a little brunch and then go off to Nanny’s for Christmas Lunch.
What will Aija be wearing on Christmas Day?
We’re not sure yet what she will be wearing on Christmas Day – most likely a nice dress with a cardigan and tights. Probably something red and white. I haven’t bought her anything special and will see what we have saved from her sister’s baby clothes.
What gifts will you be buying for Aija for her first Christmas, if any?
We have bought a couple of things already for her – a dress (to match her sisters dress) and a musical rotating toy. We might buy another toy and also buy and wrap some wet wipes for her, as she loves rustling the packets!
Will you be making any Christmas crafts with Aija this year?
I haven’t planned yet to make any Christmas crafts with her – perhaps we might make a Christmas tree decoration with her, using salt dough and maybe her foot print on it.
What are you most looking forward to this Christmas and how are you going to make it special?
This Christmas I am mostly looking forward to having a nice Christmas Eve dinner, and making some traditional Finnish Christmas foods. I’m also looking forward to sitting by the Christmas tree and enjoying the lights and decorations.
Will Aija be visiting Father Christmas this year? And do you still believe?
We are going to Fortnum & Masons to see Santa; he will read a story for the kids and give them gifts. Not that Aija will understand any of it! And of course, I still believe ;)
Wishing you all a very happy First Christmas with Aija..x
