Hello, I’m Emma, also known as MrsShilts online. I’m Mum to two fantastic boys; Olly (born 2013) and Freddie (born 2018) plus dog ‘mum’ to our crazy but loveable girl, Cookie, the Cockapoo!

By day, I’m at full-time HR professional. I’m CIPD qualified and love working as part of a fantastic team keeping the People Team cogs turning and making a difference within my local community. By night, I’m in Mum mode whether it’s at cricket practice or a game with the boys. I’m also a blogger / content creator / social media manager so love social media and all the positives it can bring. Life is busy but that’s just how we like it.

I’m a typical Scorpio. I’m fiercely loyal, determined to make things work well and I’m very resourceful. I’m also ‘all or nothing’ so if I’m interested in something I’ll want to immerse myself in it completely!

My family are my world and I am incredible lucky that they are just wonderful humans! My boys are the most endearing, kind and funny children I know and I just adore them. Being their Mum is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, cheesy but true!

About the blog

I started this blog back in 2008 to keep me accountable and it’s come a long way over the years. It’s predominately a UK family lifestyle blog as it covers everything and anything family lifestyle. If you search back, you’ll find posts covering infertility and weightloss, through to pregnancy and starting our family. The baby years came and went super quickly, as did the toddler and pre-school years and now we’re well into the school days with both my boys at school; my eldest Olly is in Year 8 at secondary school and Freddie, the not-so-little one of the family, is in Year 3 at primary school. They don’t feature too often on the blog anymore out of personal preference which I 100% respect.


Today the blog covers all sorts including family travel, our favourite recipes, days out we love, home and interiors and general life under our beautiful Staffordshire skies.

We have worked with an incredible range of brands over the last 18 years. From hotel reviews to pushchairs, working with British Olympian athletes to promote children’s toys to reviewing family cars. It’s been a wonderful adventure so far!
