Continuing my nosey at Baby’s First Christmas plans, traditions and practices, is an interview with fellow blogger Emily, who’s daughter Lilah will be celebrating her first Christmas this year.
Hello Emily, can you tell me a bit about yourself and your family?
Hello, I’m Emily and I’m mummy to three littles ones aged 4 and under. Indiana is almost 5, Parker is 3 and baby Lilah was born in January 2018, so will be celebrating her first christmas this year! I live in West Kent with my husband Jack, and you will most likely find us exploring a National Trust property, or eating too many cakes in our local Costa!
What are your plans for the lead up to Christmas?
We always put up our Christmas tree on December 1st, and that’s when the festivities begin! We will visit the garden centre to look at all the decorations, go ice skating at our local rink, and of course be visiting Father Christmas during December!
Will you be starting any new traditions or keeping up with any old ones?
When Indiana was a baby we started our Christmas Eve basket tradition, so of course this will be something we will continue this year. We’ll of course have to make sure there’s some pjs and books suitable for Lilah this year though!
How will you all be spending Christmas Day?
We spend Christmas Day as a family at home, with Jack making the Christmas dinner and plenty of Christmas TV! We found this way much easier since we had the little ones, especially as it gives them lots of time to play with their new toys. We then head over to my parents in the evening for more presents and food.
What will Lilah be wearing on Christmas Day?
I’m still on the hunt for a pretty (very sparkly!) dress for Lilah to wear on Christmas Day. We always dress up for the day, so of course she needs to join in too.
What gifts will you be buying for Lilah for her first Christmas, if any?
As Lilah is going to be almost one at Christmas, we thought we would buy her some more grown up toys that she can use over the next year. We decided to be thrifty and purchase all her bits second hand though, as she won’t even notice! We’ve got her a Beatbo, Leapfrog Picnic Basket and some books.
Will you be making any Christmas crafts with Lilah this year?
Yes, definitely! Both Indie and Parker have handprint decorations for the Christmas tree, so we need to make one with Lilah as well. I want to do some handprint or footprint cards to give to family too.
What are you most looking forward to this Christmas and how are you going to make it special?
Like every Christmas, I am probably most excited to spend quality time as a family. Seeing the excitement and magic on the children’s faces over the festive period really is unbeatable!
Will Lilah be visiting Father Christmas this year? And do you still believe?
Although Jack and I don’t believe anymore, we definitely want the children to for as long as possible. We will hopefully be getting tickets for our favourite Grotto, and of course taking Lilah along this year. Although we’re not paying for her to get a gift, as we thought we’d save a few pennies while we could!
Wishing you all a very happy First Christmas with Lilah..x
