Continuing my nosey at Baby’s First Christmas plans, traditions and practices, is an interview with blogger Sophie who’s son Hugo will be celebrating his first Christmas this year.
Hello Sophie, can you tell me a bit about yourself and your family?
I’m Sophie and I live with my husband and our two children Henry who is seven and Hugo who is almost five months! We have just moved to Cheshire from Manchester but we are still very much city kids at heart.
What are your plans for the lead up to Christmas?
For us the lead up to Christmas is all about getting into the festive spirit. We love spending time decorating the house and tree, watching festive films and of course eating lots of festive food. We are also planning a family mini break to Center Parcs to visit their Winter Wonderland and take part in some Christmas activities!
Will you be starting any new traditions or keeping up with any old ones?
Our main tradition is visiting Center Parcs. It’s something we have done every year since we have had children and it really signifies Christmas for us. Other than that we always wear Christmas PJ’s and watch Christmas films on Christmas Eve!
How will you all be spending Christmas Day?
At home as a family of four. We love spending the holidays with our extended family but for us Christmas day is special when it’s just our little unit. We don’t get dressed, eat chocolate for breakfast and indulge in a lavish meal.
What will Hugo be wearing on Christmas Day?
A little reindeer outfit I just purchased!! We used to get dressed up fancy for Christmas day but as the years have gone on we much prefer being casula but festive.
What gifts will you be buying for Hugo for his first Christmas, if any?
Some small token gifts to open. When my first son was a baby we made that mistake of buying loads of gifts but they don’t really understand it at that age so we won’t be making that mistake again!
Will you be making any Christmas crafts with Hugo this year?
Absolutely! I love the idea of making some Christmas decorations that we can keep and reuse each year!
What are you most looking forward to this Christmas and how are you going to make it special?
Complete interrupted family time. Both myself and husband work long hours and it’s difficult to have time completely switched off but we always make it a rule around Christmas. We have had a busy year and getting that quality family time is essential.
Will Hugo be visiting Father Christmas this year? And do you still believe?
Yes! We always go to the Father Christmas at Center Parcs we have photographs from every year we have been and I really hope it continues! I do still believe Christmas is magical and I enjoy it more now I’m thirty than I did as a child!
Wishing you all a very happy First Christmas with Hugo..x
