Baby’s First Christmas – Emma and Ada

I love finding out about the Christmas traditions of friends so this year in celebration of Freddie’s first Christmas, I’m asking fellow bloggers to join in with my ‘An Interview with’ series. First up, it’s Emma who will be celebrating her daughter Ada’s first Christmas.

An Interview with - Baby's First Christmas

Hello, can you tell me a bit about yourself and your family?

Hey! I’m Emma, mum to Ada (1 on 4th January) and Harley (3) and engaged to Tom. We live in Birmingham and I work in PR but I’m currently on maternity leave.

What are your plans for the lead up to Christmas?

I’m planning on going BIG this Christmas! My due date with Ada was Christmas Day last year so we were on standby and couldn’t make too many plans, especially as I was huge! We’ll be taking a trip to see Santa this year and enjoying lots of festive days out. We always start watching Christmas films on Bonfire Night, my favourite is The Santa Clause – hopefully Ada will love it too.

Will you be starting any new traditions or keeping up with any old ones?

Since Harley was born I’ve made my own Christmas cards with a polaroid of him holding a festive sign – they’re super cute and I like to think people will keep them! This year Ada will be joining Harley in the pictures complete with a festive jumper.

How will you all be spending Christmas Day?

Christmas Day is all about our family. We’re super lucky to live really close to both sides of our family so can manage to get around to see everybody but it’s going to be a full-on day. Christmas Day evening will mainly consist of me stressing out about where all the new toys will go!

What will Ada be wearing on Christmas Day?

This year I’m definitely planning on getting us all some matching tartan pyjamas so we can start the day feeling ridiculously festive on our first Christmas Day as a family of four. I haven’t decided exactly what she’ll be wearing just yet but tartan is always a winner at Christmas – can’t forget a spare outfit change though!

What gifts will you be buying for Ada for her first Christmas, if any?

I need to try not to go too over the top as Ada’s birthday is 4th January but I’ve got a feeling it’ll be difficult! There are a few toys I’ve got my eye on – I love the Leapfrog Ice Cream Cart – and I’ve also decided I’d like to make her a Christmas book, which we’ll complete every year to document all of her Christmases (I’m also going to do this for Harley too). I’m also thinking about a small keepsake too, I’m so sentimental!

Will you be making any Christmas crafts with Ada this year?

I’m not great at crafting but I can’t miss the opportunity to make some cute reindeer footprints!

What are you most looking forward to this Christmas and how are you going to make it special?

I’m just so excited that we’re going to be celebrating our first Christmas as a family of four. Both Tom and I are off for the whole of the Christmas period so there’ll be lots of family time. And we won’t be spending the whole time worrying I’m about to go into labour!

Will Ada be visiting Father Christmas this year? And do you still believe?

Absolutely! Visiting Father Christmas is such a big part of our Christmas celebrations, I can still remember going to see him when I was younger so I want to create those memories for my children too. Our local Scouts group always visit our road one evening during December with Father Christmas and it’s so lovely for the kids, I’ll definitely be keeping Ada up past her bedtime that night so she can see him.

Wishing you all a very happy First Christmas with Ada..x
