Top tips for a quick bedroom refresh

There’s a good chance you’ve recently redecorated your children’s bedrooms, spruced up the kitchen and redone the bathroom.  But what about your bedroom?  The master bedroom in a family home is often bottom of the list when it comes to decorating.  It just doesn’t get the attention it deserves, and often the decorating budget goes elsewhere. 

But that doesn’t mean you can’t give the bedroom a quick refresh without needing to spend a fortune.  Here are some top tips for a speedy and affordable bedroom makeover.

Create a feature wall as a focal point

The amount of time and the cost of wallpapering a room may not be a practical option when going for a quick refresh.  Instead, simply decorate one of the walls to create an eye-catching feature wall.  This is your chance to make a statement and change the whole dynamic of the room, so don’t shy away from bold colours and patterns.

Lighting up the bedroom

Adding new lighting to a bedroom is a great way to add style.  You could go for matching bedside lamps or plug-in wall lights, which are easy to install and give a modern luxury feel.  These innovative lights are incredibly popular as they are low cost and can be put up without the need for an electrician.

Restyle the bed

You might not want the expense of buying a new bed, but a new headboard is an easy and affordable way to change the look of your bed.  If you already have a fabric headboard, you could recover it instead.  How about a wall hanging?  A large square of beautiful fabric hung from a curtain pole can create a fab alternative to a headboard.  And if your budget is really tight, why not use a paint tester pot and paint a semi-circle above the bed, creating the impression of a headboard?
