It’s been another exciting week here in the Team Shilts household so as the school holidays begin, here’s what we’ve been getting up to..
Firstly, my Little Mr turned 23 weeks old last Sunday. The weeks are flying by and he’s looking more grown up every day, he’s definitely losing his baby looks and is definitely looking more like a small toddler these days.
I went up to Blog On at the MOSI in Manchester whilst Little Mr and hubby spent the day with his Parents. It was a long day with an early start but it was a great conference, so friendly and I got a lot out of it.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their first baby, a Son, weighing 8lb 6oz and upon hearing the news I burst into tears. I was as shocked as you are! Still totally blaming my hormones.

We had an almighty storm with lots of thunder, lightning and rain. It did cool the air so it was a nice break from the unbearable heat. It was hubby’s last day of term before his Summer holidays started and our nephew came to play with Little Mr for the day. Parents of two children or more, you have my complete respect! How do you do it everyday? I was shattered!
I visited the hair salon and got a colour, cut and blow dry. It was a lovely break and Amy my hairdresser did a fab job, I love it! I might even be contemplating going shorter but not for a while yet. I then had a Dentists appointment and I needed a filling doing. My teeth have got so weak since being pregnant. Two injections and two fillings later I spent the rest of the afternoon attempting to sip a cup of soup and drinking tea through a straw.

It was Little Mr’s last swimming lesson so we enjoyed a good splash in the pool and then we went shopping in Walsall. We bought some new clothes for Little Mr in the Mothercare sale and bought him a couple of new toys. We then went over to Ikea and had a good look around spotting a new duvet cover I liked and we ended up buying a couple of things for my #HomeImprovementHero post which is coming up this week.
Blog Post: Bring on the Summer
I was lucky enough to win a pair of tickets to the Anniversary Games held at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London so we drove down to Kings Cross and parked up, checked into our hotel and hopped on the speediest train ever from St Pancreas International to Stratford International. The stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is absolutely amazing. There was such a fantastic atmosphere and although we had brilliant seats (Row 10) we had to move to a quieter spot as Little Mr wasn’t a fan of the speakers being so loud. You can read more about the evening here which is my hubby’s new blog; Daddy Diary.
We took advantage of being in London and went to visit Wembley Stadium. We went on the VIP tour around the Stadium and it was really interesting. I’d love to say I only went for hubby but I actually really enjoyed it. We were able to have a look at the seating area, the press room, the west end changing rooms, walked up the tunnel towards the pitch then walked up the stadium steps to look at a replica of the FA cup in the Royal Box. Did you know there’s an actual hospital in the stadium? I didn’t! The tour lasted for a good hour and a bit with a lot of walking around and many steps to climb and once again Little Mr was brilliant. He slept pretty much the whole way home and woke up smiley. Perfect!
