Our Shilton Boys // July 2020

July saw us tackle the final month of the homeschooling, toddler entertaining and working-from-home juggle. We’ve heard from school that Olly will be going back full time in September so we were glad to reach the end of term and pack away the resources to enjoy some carefree holiday time!

Lockdown has been eased and we’ve been going out more and seeing our family which has put lots of smiles on our faces. The boys have both really enjoyed seeing everyone again and they’ve really benefited from spending time with their grandparents. Olly’s really enjoyed playing cricket and football in the garden with his Grandad and Freddie loves reading with his Nanny and playing supermarkets with the play food.

During the week, we have been escaping the house and have been visiting local National Trust properties. So far, we have been to Wightwick Manor and Packwood House. We’re venturing further afield in the Midlands and it has been so good to get out and explore with the boys.

At the weekend, we’ve started to go out as a family more. Over the last few weekends we’ve been to the Lavender fields in the Cotswolds, we’ve been to the Peak District and closer to home, this weekend we went to Shugborough for a wander around.

We’ve had a lovely few days out together. It’s so good to see the boys getting on well and bouncing off each other. Olly is always making Freddie laugh and Freddie just adores his big brother. They’ve definitely bonded more over the lockdown period.

In the next couple of weeks our boys will be getting a new bedroom as we swap rooms with them. They cannot wait to share the bigger bedroom with more space to play and both boys are having new beds, including Freddie. We’re taking the opportunity to move Freddie into a single bed with a bed guard. It’s a big step for him but I caught him climbing in his cotbed so it’s definitely time to take the next step.

We’re still planning more days out, meeting up with friends and the bedroom redecoration project. It’s going to be a full on month ahead but I’m sure it’ll be wonderful for our boys.
