Our Shilton Boys // February 2020

February has been a good month for our Shilton boys. We’ve had a week off together as Olly had half-term and we spent the time at home, the boys went to their Grandparents and we all had some days out and about seeing friends.

Freddie really is his big brothers biggest fan. He just adores him. He’s always following him around and copying what he s doing. If Olly is playing with his cars, Freddie will join in. If Olly is sitting down drawing then Freddie will want to do that too. He was very happy to have his big brother at home for the school holidays.

Happy Birthday Olly

This month is was Olly’s 7th birthday. We had a day out to Silverstone which is somewhere Olly loves going to watch the racing with his Daddy. We headed to The Silverstone Experience which was a review trip if you fancy a read. We had a brilliant day out then headed to Pizza Express for a birthday treat.

I’m so proud of this young man. He’s growing up into a wonderful little man who is caring and considerate. He’s cheeky and has his own sense of humour blossoming. He loves a joke book and loves to make people laugh, especially his little brother. He loves reading and maths, and will happily make up sums for him to practice (usually at bedtime when he should be going to sleep!)

You always imagine what your children are going to grow up like and although we have our moments with Olly and his lack of confidence in trying new things, he’s full of beans at home and school. Maybe next year he’ll want to do more things without us, although I’m in no hurry for him to find that independent streak just yet!

SATs pressure in Year 2?

Over the next few weeks, Olly has SATS booster classes in school. They’re compulsory for his year which I’m not too impressed about but he loved his first booster class after school this week. I don’t like the pressure that the school are putting upon the children. They’re still so young, there’s no need for such pressure at ages 6 and 7. I’m all for encouraging and motivating children to do well but constant tests is a bit too much. If it gets any more intense, i’ll definitely be having words with the teacher!
