With the cold, wintery weather comes the temptation to turn up the heating in the home. No-one likes to come home from work to a house that cold you can see your breath in your kitchen, so whilst you might be tempted to increase the thermostat to compensate for the chill, there’s plenty you can do to save money on your heating bill this winter.
Save money on your heating bill
Perhaps you need to have a look at the draft access points in your home? Do your front door and windows let in the cold? Covering them with draft excluders, thermal lined curtains and blinds could help the heat in your home escaping.
You may need to take a look at the times when your heating at home is on. Do you really need your heating on when you and your family are in bed asleep? You could increase the tog of your duvet, wear thermal pyjamas or take a hot water bottle to bed.
If you’re at home alone, don’t heat the whole house. Instead close the doors and cosy up in one room. Layer up with jumpers and socks and keep yourself busy.

Do you need a new boiler?
One of the best things you can do to save money on your heating bills is to take a look at your existing boiler. You may need to invest in a new boiler. Boilers that are over 15 years old could be costing you money as they’re less economical and may breakdown frequently, (you may need Boiler Repair Leeds to help out). A new boiler is always a sound financial investment and will save you a significant amount of money over time.
Take a look at the ways you keep yourself warm in the winter. Could you do more to save yourself money on your heating bills?
