The first Me and Mine of the new decade. Despite January being a really long month, somehow, I never got round to publishing this post nor did we get a decent photograph. But I couldn’t not post the update, so here we are.
We had a lovely day for our little boys second birthday. Freddie turned two at the start of the month and I feel our baby days are now, well and truly over. No more babies in this house! We’re now trying to get our house de-cluttered and organised. The boys bedroom will definitely be sorted in the first half of the year and we might just claim our bedroom back from furniture and toys!

Here’s what the Shilton family enjoyed getting up to in January 2020;
I (Mummy) have started back at Slimming World and lost 14lb in the first month which I’m delighted about. It’s going to be a long slog to get to where I want to be, but Rome wasn’t built in a day so I know it’s going to take time. You can read more about why I want to lose weight here.
Daddy has enjoyed a day out at the Autosport Show at the NEC. He took Olly to have a look at the cars and meet some more of their favourite BTCC drivers. They had a great day out together. It’s so good that they enjoy one-on-one time together.
Daddy also had a great afternoon out with the family at Sheldon Country Park. The boys took their scooters and we went to watch the planes land at Birmingham airport. We are self-confessed plane geeks and love to watch them take off and land.
Olly has lost another couple of teeth. He lost a smaller bottom tooth and the last big one at the front. He looks so different with bigger teeth. Olly went back to school and got a bit frightened by a new topic they had started in school; The Great Fire of London. His Uncles live in London so he was a bit scared it might happen again but as the month has progressed, he’s been able to understand what happened in more detail and realises that won’t happen.
Freddie turned two and had a day out at the farm with Mummy. He had a small family tea party with a Peppa Pig cake and cupcakes to celebrate. He was given lots of lovely presents from our family and friends, including lots of Duplo, Peppa Pig goodies and clothes.
Freddie and I have started the new term at our Sounds Right Phonics class. It’s a brilliant little class and I really like the way they introduce the children to new sounds. You can read a bit more about last term at Sounds Right Phonics here.
So that was January; a mix of birthday celebrations, back to routine and a new start at Slimming World. Onwards to February which is where we celebrate Olly’s birthday, it’s half term and we’re hoping to see friends and family! Have a great month.
