So, the new year has begun! And with it comes many resolutions and goals that you swear you’ll stick to over the next 12 months. Whether it’s to cut down on the sweets, improve your health, limit your alcohol or another change, you’ve gone into the new year with the promise that this year will be different.

Improve your health

If you’re still unsure of how you can improve your health, however, the below 5 techniques might put you in the right direction. Small changes that will make all of the difference, you’ll go through the year with more energy and motivation. Of course, if you’re looking for support throughout your fitness journey, it’s a good idea to look into weight loss organisations, such as Slimming World or Weight Watchers. To see a selection of what you could be eating on Slimming World, have a look here.

Plan Your Meals

This might seem daunting, but it’s a fun activity to do – whether it’s with your kids or with your partner. By planning your meals every week, you’ll find that you’re eating a lot healthier and creating more extraordinary meals – rather than recycling the same recipes every day.

You can do this by utilising a meal planner, that you can put on the fridge or the wall in your kitchen. You can then think about changing it up every day, making more exciting meals that the whole family will love.

Start Exercising More Regularly

Ok, so this might seem like an obvious one – but it’s always worth a mention. In the new year, try and get more active. Now, this doesn’t mean that you must hit the gym every day for several hours at a time. But you can start by going on long walks, jogs or even trying an activity such as swimming.

This simple change will help to improve your health, and combined with a healthy diet, will make you feel a lot better in yourself.

Switch up your diet & go vegan?

Everyone has been there. After a long day looking after the kids or out at work, you might feel as though it’s easier to cook up whatever you have in the freezer. And whilst this isn’t a bad thing to do from time to time, it’s also a good idea to cook several fresh meals throughout the week. Stepping away from processed food, you and your family will feel a lot healthier.

Other small changes you can make within your house is to eat more fruit and veg and try gluten-free alternatives. With the number of products now available on the market, from Gluten-Free Pita to pizza and pasta, there are so many choices to choose from.

Would you consider following a vegan diet? Following a vegan diet contains only plants (such as vegetables, grains, nuts and fruits) and foods made from plants. Vegans don’t eat foods that come from animals, including dairy products such as milk and cheese, and do not eat eggs.

Did you know there is now a vegan test that you can take that will let you know how beneficial it will be to your health? The test examines intolerances from animal-based products and the comprehensive test looks at the amino acids and proteins that can cause problems to see if your body reacts to them.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Often, people don’t really think about the power of water. Relying on hydration from coffee or fizzy drinks, they aren’t reaping the benefits that come with this natural drink. This year, why not drink more water? Great for brain function, regulating your body temperature and flushing out toxins, it will ensure that you’re hydrated throughout the day.

Try to Relax

Keeping your stress levels down is key to good health. Whether you opt for regular massages, yoga, meditation or another activity, you’ll feel a lot more relaxed and at ease. Helping with motivation, you’ll start each day feeling as though you can take on the world!
