If you’re a long time follower you’ll remember that me and Slimming World go back a number of years. I’ve written about it a lot here. I first started the plan in 2014 when I wanted to lose weight following the birth of my first child in 2013 and I successfully lost over five stone. Fast forward to January 2020 and I’m now a Mummy to two beautiful boys and it’s time to refocus on my own health.
I am overweight. My body is suffering with aches and pains and it’s down to my weight that I am struggling. I’m not a size I want to be. Being healthy for my children is a must. Playing with them is a must and I want to play with them easily and run around after them. I want to see them grow up and be there for them throughout their lives. I don’t want to die early because I am overweight and all the complications that brings, it’s unhealthy and I’m suffering for it.
Bring back my confidence
Not only am I overweight but it has hugely affected my confidence too. I don’t feel comfortable facing friends I haven’t seen for a while as I know I have put weight on. My face is fatter, my body is fatter and I feel like I can’t wear certain clothes as they no longer suit me. It’s also depressing how quickly you can grow out of clothes when you don’t wear them frequently and I am longing for the day when I can wear some of my favourite Joules tops again.
I love the body confidence vibe I see online. To be who you are and love who you are whatever size you may be. But it’s a hugely personal thing. I want to feel good about myself again and for me, I know losing weight is going to help me with that. I’ll be able to move more quickly, not see 3 chins in the mirror and the rolls of fat on my back. I want to wear nice clothing. I want to wear clothes that make me feel good instead of covering up.
Slimming World works for me
Having lost weight with Slimming World in the past, I know it works for me. I want to take back control and get into a good routine with our food and meal plans. I won’t be filling the cupboard and fridge with sweetener and muller light yoghurts, I’ll be eating sensibly, drinking more water and making a conscious effort to eat properly at every meal time. You won’t find me skipping meals in favour of a quick cup of tea and a biscuit, I’m going to put me first.
I’m not sure if I’m going to photograph my meals or share too much about my journey online. There will be more family friendly recipes and sporadic updates but I’m doing this for me; no pressure, no guilt about the past just looking forward, time to refocus and put my health first.
