This blog post will provide a guide for moving with kids based on their age.

1) 0 to 3 Years Old:

This is a difficult age for moving because toddlers are too young to comprehend the concept. To make things easier, try to keep their schedule as consistent as possible and bring some familiar items from home, such as stuffed animals or toys. It might help to create a special box for them that contains all of these beloved objects. Additionally, you should plan plenty of outdoor activities during the move so they can run off excess energy and reduce stress. Be sure to travel safely with your newborn.

2) 4 to 6 Years Old:

At this age, kids have likely formed strong attachments, so it’s important to give them time and space to adjust. You can explain the situation in simple terms and let them know that it’s going to be an adventure. They may also need some reassurance that they will still be able to see their friends and family. It’s a good idea to keep them involved in the process by asking for their help when packing or planning fun activities at the new place.

3) 7 to 12 Years Old:

chool-aged children are old enough to understand what’s happening, but they can still feel overwhelmed. Reassure them that this is not a punishment and allow them to express their feelings openly. You should also provide plenty of opportunities to say goodbye, such as having one last sleepover with friends or visiting favourite places before leaving town. If possible, let them take part in selecting the new home so they feel more invested and excited about the move.

4) 13 Years Old and Up:

Teens are more independent and may even take the lead when it comes to organizing their things. However, they may still feel anxious or stressed about the process. Make sure they have plenty of opportunities to talk through their feelings with you or a trusted friend or family member. Let them know that making new friends can be exciting, and encourage them to research local activities in the new area for meeting people their age.

5) Storage:

Store toys, clothes, and sentimental items in boxes labelled with your child’s name. That way, when it comes time to unpack, they know exactly where everything is; find a storage area where you can safely store their items and create a system for organizing them.

Moving with kids can be a stressful experience, but it doesn’t have to be. Take the time to understand their needs and create a plan that works for everyone. Make sure that you keep communication lines open, provide reassurances, and involve them in decision-making as much as possible. With these tips, your move with kids should go more smoothly than you expected!
