The Most Important Elements in a bedroom

There are many smaller elements of a child’s bedroom that can be changed over the years as their interest and personality evolve, but the key elements that will stay the same will be the bed, mattress and wardrobe, so these are areas that require some research. If you have a limited amount of space at your disposal, you should look into fitted solutions to maximise the amount of space in the room.

Use Fitted Wardrobes

Following this, fitted wardrobes are an excellent option for a child’s room as you can maximise space while still having plenty of storage for clothes, shoes, books, toys and anything else that can cause clutter. A fitted wardrobe can also be designed to the needs of the room, so it can be tailor-made for the space.

Bed With Storage Underneath

In terms of the bed, having a bed that has storage underneath is also a good idea. Children’s bedrooms can be cluttered, messy and chaotic spaces, so you want to avoid this with smart storage solutions. Beds with built-in storage underneath will make it much easier to keep the space clear while still ensuring that your child has easy access to everything that they need.

Personalisation

Now that you have taken care of the two main pieces of furniture, you can start to build around this and this is where you can get creative and add personality to make the space feel like it is their own.

Bedsheets

One of the best ways to add personality is through the bedsheets. Bedsheets are a great way to add colour and visual interest, especially if it is something like their favourite superhero. The great thing about this is that it is very easy to change once their interests evolve.

Colour

Colour is an important decision when decorating a child’s room. For the walls, it is smart to play it safe with a neutral colour and then inject colour with things like chairs, artwork, cushions etc. You should also consult with them to find out what colours they would like in their room.

Make it Cosy

Finally, you will want to make it a cosy and comfortable space. You can do this with blankets, beanbags, stuffed animals and toys from their favourite films, cartoons and TV shows.

Hopefully, this will help you to design a bedroom that your child will love and will be easy to adapt as they change over the years!
