Saying Yes to More: Filling My Camera Roll with Fun, Friends and Happiness

Every now and then, I find myself scrolling through my camera roll, looking back at the photographs I’ve taken over the last few months. From BTCC weekends and family adventures to sunsets, countryside walks and nights out with friends, it’s a lovely reminder of just how much I’ve done.

Life hasn’t been without its challenges. Work pressures, a busy home life and the usual overthinking have all made an appearance. There have been days when I’ve questioned myself and felt like I’m constantly trying to keep all the plates spinning. But looking back at those photographs, I see something else. I see someone who has been getting out there, saying yes to opportunities and making memories along the way. And honestly? I think there’s something worth celebrating in that.

Saying yes, even when it’s easier to say no

It’s so easy to get caught up in everyday routines. Work, family responsibilities, housework and everything else can leave little time for the things we genuinely enjoy. Over the last six months, I’ve been making more of an effort to accept invitations, try new things and make time for myself. Whether it’s travelling somewhere new, booking tickets for an event or simply deciding that the housework can wait, I’m learning that I don’t need to have everything organised before I allow myself to enjoy life. Because that perfect moment when everything is sorted probably isn’t coming any time soon!

Friends, fun and a little bit of motorsport

Anyone who follows me on Instagram will know that motorsport has featured heavily in my recent adventures. From Knockhill in Scotland to Silverstone and Brands Hatch, the BTCC has given me plenty of opportunities to road trip and catch up with friends and enjoy something I’m genuinely passionate about. It’s about more than watching cars race. It’s the atmosphere, the people, the garage action and the memories made along the way.

I’ve also celebrated friend’s milestone birthdays and enjoyed spending time with people who make me laugh. As we get older, finding time for friendships can be tricky, but making the effort is SO, SO worthwhile. Sometimes, saying yes means getting out of your comfort zone. Other times, it simply means showing up for the people who matter.

Making memories with my boys

Family adventures remain a big part of life, although things are changing as my boys grow up. With an 8 year old and a teenager, they’re becoming increasingly independent and developing their own interests. I know these years won’t last forever, so I’m trying to make the most of the time we have together.

From exploring new paths around Cannock Chase with Freddie and the dog, to enjoying an unplanned Saturday in the Peak District with my eldest, I’ve been reminded that family memories don’t need elaborate plans. Sometimes, the best days are the simplest ones.

Finding happiness in the little things

Not every adventure involves travelling somewhere exciting. Some of my favourite moments have been walking outdoors, enjoying the autumn sunshine or stopping to appreciate a beautiful sunset. Nature helps me switch off when work pressures and everyday responsibilities leave my head feeling busy. Getting outside gives me space to breathe, clear my thoughts and remember that tomorrow is another day.

Alongside this, I’ve continued working on my fitness and confidence after losing quite a bit of weight. I’m still learning to recognise the changes in myself, and confidence doesn’t magically appear just because you’ve achieved something significant. But I’m trying not to let self-doubt stop me from enjoying life. I want to take the photographs, wear the outfit, try the experience and make the memories without waiting until I feel completely ready.

More living, less overthinking

Looking back, my camera roll tells a story of friendships, family adventures, personal growth and little moments of happiness. It also reminds me that life doesn’t have to be perfect for good things to happen.

I’ve had difficult days, questioned myself and felt overwhelmed, but I’ve still made memories, explored new places and spent time doing things I love. I’ve realised that happiness isn’t necessarily about changing your whole life. Sometimes, it’s about making a little more room for the things that already make you happy. So here’s to saying yes to more opportunities, making time for friends, enjoying adventures with my boys and appreciating those quieter moments, too. Life is happening now, not when the house is tidy, work is less stressful or everything feels perfectly organised.

More living, less overthinking. More memories, less waiting. And a camera roll full of fun, friends and happiness.

That’s the plan, anyway!
