We were recently invited to the Orbital restaurant of the Brewers Fayre chain for a back to work treat and was looking forward to seeing what was on the menu. We are familiar with this particular restaurant as we’ve dined here before with family but it’s been over a year since we last came so was looking forward to seeing how it fared.
There are some brilliant deals on the menu. The excellent ‘Daytime Value’ offer includes 2 main meals for £10.99 between Monday to Friday, 12pm until 6pm meaning you can skip the cooking after school and head over to Brewers Fayre for a tasty treat that won’t break the bank.
We took advantage of the ‘2 starters for £2.50’ offer. Initially I thought the portions sizes would be tiny, as you can’t get a decent starter for less than £3 anywhere else but I was very pleasantly surprised. We ordered Loaded Nachos, Potato Dippers and Garlic and Herb Breaded Mushrooms as we couldn’t decide which starters to have. When the starters came out we felt incredibly greedy as the portion sizes were huge! Incredible value for money and to be honest we couldn’t eat it all.
Every night Brewers Fayre put on a different selection of the Chef’s Counter which is buffet ‘all you can eat’ style. The selection includes Curry Night, Mexican Feast and Chip Shop favourites. On the evening we dined, the selection was Hot Dogs and Burgers so of course hubby wanted to try them out so made his way up to the buffet cart to see what was on offer.

He selected a hot dog and a chicken burger which looked nice but he was disappointed that the hot dogs came with mustard already served. He’s not much of a mustard fan so didn’t enjoy it as much as he’d hope.
I was attempting to have a relatively healthy main course so opted for Sirloin Steak, Jacket Potato instead of chips, a grilled tomato and peas (all of which can be enjoyed synfree on the Slimming World plan.) Unfortunately the chef had taken my request for a well done steak to the extreme and I had to send the steak back but the second steak was cooked beautifully (note to self: request medium to well done next time) it was moist, succulent and delicious.
No restaurant review would be complete without a taste of a dessert or two so hubby enjoyed the Brownie Sundae and I indulged in a slice of Lemon Mallow pie. Both our desserts were again, very good sizes and were enjoyable. Little Mr also tried out the Mallow topping on my dessert for the first time and he really enjoyed it.
The staff at Brewers Fayre were really attentive and friendly. Huge shout out to David, the Team Leader who couldn’t have been more helpful. It was nice to watch the staff interact with other customers too as everyone was well looked after and the staff seemed genuinely happy to help which is always nice to see.
We can definitely recommend the food and service at Orbital, Brewers Fayre. Brilliant value for money, cheerful and rather delicious!
