Me and Mine Project // January 2021

For some, January is a miserable, bleak month where the excitement of Christmas is well over, money is tight and sunshine filled days seem a million miles away. It was like that for us except it was Freddie’s birthday month and Lockdown 3 happened too! What a month eh?

Since Freddie was born we’ve always had something lovely to look forward too and this month was no exception. Freddie celebrated his 3rd birthday. Although we were in lockdown, we arranged a fabulous cake to be made, bought him some celebratory balloons and we had arranged doorstop pressie drop offs from family and friends. Being 3 he wasn’t really aware of all the fun he was missing out on and we have promised to have more fun and days out with Grandparents and family when we’re allowed to socialise.

He had a lovely day and loved all the fuss and the presents. I can’t believe the baby of the family is three. He’s becoming a wonderful little boy with brilliant manners and such a cheeky side that makes me laugh every day. We still need to say goodbye to the dummies and the bottle of milk at bedtime but those milestones will soon come and go. Read more about our Shilton boys in January here.

This month we have:

• enjoyed evening walks in the snow as it was snowing (it was cold but brilliant)
• had snowball fights
• made a snowman with a carrot for a nose and Duplo bricks as eyes
• worn our pjs during the day on more occasions than we can remember
• loved having Zoom calls with my 84 year old Grandparents
• embraced remote learning
• been grateful for our childcare support bubble with the in-laws
• loved watching Bridgerton and Chesapeake Shores on Netflix (just Emma, not the rest of the family)
• embraced potty training with Freddie and thankful we didn’t buy a new carpet!

February will be another month in lockdown, we have Olly’s 8th birthday to celebrate and it’s half term! Hurrah for no school work for the week! Fingers crossed for more snow.
