Last week we took Little Mr for his first ever dip in a swimming pool. We were really looking forward to taking him as although he’s not too fussed with the water at bath time, we hoped he would kick and splash about and enjoy the freedom of being in a big open space.
I made sure I was prepared and bought some waterproof nappies (Huggies Little Swimmers) and a swimming onesie. We’d been given a hooded robe for Little Mr as a gift which is ideal for ensuring he’s kept warm out of the water and my Sister had given us her inflatable baby chair so that Little Mr could float about in the pool without us holding him.
Little Mr’s first dip in the swimming pool – 27th May 2013
Unfortunately the water was a bit too cool for him so we only stayed in the pool for about 20 minutes. I’m not sure whether he loved it but there were no tears and he seemed happy enough as we were pushing him along in the water.
We would love to take him to a class and get him used to being in the water on a regular basis but we can’t commit to a specific day over the weekend at the moment due to other commitments. I’m really looking forward to taking him again and will definitely look for a warmer pool with child friendly changing facilities.

I can’t wait to start taking him more often, just need to be brave enough to do it on my own!
Thanks for stopping by x
Thanks Suzanne, I’m hoping he’ll love it next time!
