Keeping children busy this Christmas // Review

The Christmas holidays are approaching and I am more than a little bit excited to see my children open their gifts on Christmas Day. Our Christmas plans will be a little bit different this year and we’ll be spending more time at home. In a bid to get some well deserved rest during the Christmas holidays, we will be keeping our boys busy with a range of fun activities including puzzles, creative colouring and crafts.

Unleashing their creativity on Christmas Day

I have very fond memories of sitting in front of the fire in my childhood home, with a colouring book and a fresh new set of pencil crayons getting lost in a colourful picture. It became a tradition and my parents would gift us colouring books and new pencils for Christmas which me and my sister would both love to use on Christmas Day. I cannot wait for my boys to do the same.

Maped Helix have some of the best creative products for children. I cannot wait to give my eldest these placemats and Color Peps Monster pencils. Olly loves to draw and colour things in, often coming up with his own ideas on what colours should be used. These would make excellent stocking fillers for children this Christmas.

The Maped Creativ Mini Box is a fab crafting activity which we can do together. This 3 in 1 activity is a great way for the boys to get hands on and bring their pictures to life. The mini box contains a scene to assemble, 6 coloured pencils (blue, yellow, brown, orange, pink and green) and 1 sheet of glow stickers (A6 format).

This Maped Creativ Color Emotions multi activity box is a brilliant crafting activity, suitable for children aged 2+. Children can decorate each Arc with the right ‘rainbow’ colour and then assemble the cardboard structure to create a rainbow shape. It’s a great hands on activity that my children will love. The activity requires the user to choose the symbols that best describe their mood and place it on the rainbow. The set includes 1 cardboard structure, 4 jumbo felt tips, 4 crayons, red finger paint, adhesive pom-poms, tissue paper and an A4 sheet of stickers.

This Bing First Puzzle, kindly gifted by Toys and Bears, is a brilliant way of introducing puzzles to small children. Whilst this puzzle is aimed at a younger child than my nearly 3 year old, it’s a familiar face on an easy 4 piece puzzle to help little fingers learn the basics of completing puzzles. Our younger cousin will love to play with this over Christmas.

We can’t wait to spend some downtime over Christmas watching the children play with their toys and spending an hour or two of quiet time as they colour in their pictures and get creative. We’re really looking forward to it.
