On Sunday we were invited to attend a party to celebrate the first birthday of the In The Night Garden boat ride at CBeebies Land, Alton Towers. We were really looking forward to the party and spending the afternoon with Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy and friends.
Little Mr is a big In The Night Garden fan and we’ve spent many an evening before bedtime watching Iggle Piggle and friends on television. I won’t claim to understand the plot of most of the episodes but Little Mr loves it and even learnt to blow a kiss by copying Upsy Daisy so it’s educational at least.
The party started and there was plenty to do; colouring in, decorating pebbles just like Makka Pakka’s, making a sensory shaker / bauble and decorating party hats as well as story time, dancing and party games.
Of course, no In The Night Garden party is complete without meeting a couple of the main characters. Little Mr got to meet both Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy and he loved it. He gave them both a lovely hug and the smile on his face was priceless.
Not only was Iggle Piggle celebrating the first birthday of the In The Night Garden boat ride but he was also celebrating the fact that he is now a Guinness World Record holder. On Sunday before the party, Iggle Piggle unveiled the worlds largest polar fleece blanket and set himself a world record. The famous red polar fleece blanket measured 98.8m sq. Wow, that’s one huge blanket. Congratulations Iggle Piggle!
A spokesperson for DHX Brands said “We know that In the Night Garden is an integral part of little ones’ bedtime routines so we felt creating the world’s largest and brightest snuggly polar fleece blanket – as verified by Guinness World Records – was a fitting way to mark the first anniversary of the In the Night Garden ride at Alton Towers. The ride has been a huge success since it launched and has been visited by thousands of parents and children over the last 12 months.”
Little Mr really enjoyed the party and it was a dream come true for him to meet two of his favourite In The Night Garden characters.
After the party we enjoyed an afternoon in CBeebies Land with rides on the In The Night Garden boat ride, Postman Pat’s Parcel Post ride and the Numtums merry go round. Little Mr would have enjoyed the new Octo-Nauts ride but tiredness got the better of him and we had to call it a day. You can see more pics from our day over in the Living Arrows post from Monday.
Huge thanks to Iggle Piggle and friends for the invitation and also thanks to the team for Little Mr’s birthday party goody bag. We had a really lovely afternoon.
Disclaimer: We received free entrance tickets and an invitation to the party as well as receiving a top goody bag full of ITNG products. There was no obligation to blog about our day out but we had lots of fun and the photographs hopefully show that.
