Dinner parties, especially during holidays, can create several good memories. You can enjoy tasty meals, play games, or talk about whatever you want. You can have dinner parties with your friends and families. Inviting kids to a dinner party can go wrong or right, which depends on your management. Kids do not like to settle down and talk like adults. They love to go outside and play. So, you might need a good plan to keep them occupied. Here are some tips you can use at your next dinner party to make it kid friendly.

1) Make Room for the Kids
Separating the adults from the children should be the first step if you want to keep kids occupied. Alternatively, you can make a designated table or space for them to make serving easier. It will also give them space to talk about fairy tales and cartoons without hesitation.
2) Plan Some Games
Planning indoor games they can participate in is also a decent method to keep them occupied. I do not recommend letting them play outside at dinner time, but board games provide a perfect alternative.
I prefer word games to other games because they teach new words to all. You can start with mini-games like Wordle, Anagram, crosswords, etc. After all the kids start winning them effortlessly, you can shift the focus to bigger games like Scrabble, Words With Friends, etc.
These bigger games can be challenging at first, so you might want to help them out. However, hosting a dinner party and helping kids with word games can be difficult together. You might want to take the help of an online tool that can help them with word games.
These tools can turn letters into words making the games easier for kids. You can also use these tools as it is to learn new words if you do not want to play word games. These tools can help with all word games like Anagram, Wordle, Scrabble, and Bananagrams.
You can also play other indoor games like ludo, carrom, etc.
3) Personalized Seating Assignments
Assigning seats at your dinner party relieves your guests from stressing about the seating arrangement. Be strategic about where you want each guest to sit and place a name card there.
You can also place some cards with descriptive words anything as their favorite person, place, food, etc., to start a healthy conversation. You might want to allow all the kids to sit together and take care. Set a special buffet only for them, which will keep them busier.
4) Keep the Kids Busy
Keeping the kids busy and entertained at your parties can be challenging, but these activities can make it easier. You can follow these art projects to keep your children entertained and occupied. Here are some of my favorites that make all children happy during get-togethers.
1) I ask kids to make Christmas trees with colorful buttons and Styrofoam, and they love to do it. They also pretend to be Santa, but instead of giving gifts, they ask for them.
2) Once I finish making a cupcake or cookies, I invite them to decorate it. I also allow them to take their decorated desserts to their homes. It keeps them busy and brings their artistic side out.
3) I also set up a photo station by allowing all invited kids to take pictures on a Polaroid camera and then design frames for themselves. You can wrap the final creation to send it to their families and loved ones.
5) Try to Keep It Simple
Keep it as simple as you can in terms of the menu. For instance, you might not want to create too wild dishes your guests will not love. Keeping simple items like french fries or turkeys is the best.
It applies to the kids too. Many kids love to try different things to eat but always waste a lot of them. You can make a small portion for them and keep the rest of the menu simple. You can also ask them to try and find secret ingredients to keep them occupied.
6) Allow the Kids to Help With Recycling
It is never a bad idea to teach good things to the kids. Avoid giving fancy China plates to the kids because most of the time, they break them. However, use those plates for all the other guests. You can give recyclable utensils to the kids and teach them how to use them for different purposes after dinner. It keeps them occupied and teaches them a necessary lesson about recycling.
Try not to force your decisions on the kids because nobody likes it. You can listen to their funny but smart ideas patiently.
