According to research from Amazon, 11am on a Wednesday morning is the most common time parents with babies and small children run out of essentials in the Birmingham region. These essentials include nappies, wipes and baby food. Sometimes, it’s not always easy to leave the house. We’ve all had a rough night with a poorly child who eventually falls asleep during the day and you’re stuck in the house or a partner who goes off on a stag weekend with his mates and you’ve put your child to bed and desperately want some chocolate treats, a bottle of fizzy pop and a DVD.

11am on a Wednesday is the most popular time when the ultra-fast Amazon Prime Now delivery service has the most orders placed. Amazon Prime Now launched in Birmingham last summer and offers Prime members delivery of thousands of essentials with one or two-hour delivery slots depending on your postcode in the region (the service is available in selected postcodes in and around the Birmingham region including Lichfield, Cannock and Tamworth in Staffordshire). Delivery within the hour costs £6.99 or free delivery with a choice of two-hour, same day delivery slots between 8am and midnight, seven days a week.

Amazon Prime Now gave me the chance to test out the service earlier this week and I have to say, I am pretty impressed. It was really easy to use and my items were delivered within an hour and a half.

How to use Amazon Prime Now

To begin with Prime Now, you need to be an Amazon Prime member and download the Prime Now app on your phone or tablet. Once the app is downloaded, you can browse through a range of products from frozen foods, bakery, wine, condiments and dressings, baby food, personal care and household essentials to name just a few.

It’s very easy to browse and add items to your basket. Before you pay for the order, you can specify when you want delivery to be. I ordered late at night so was given a delivery slot between 10pm and midnight.

Once you’ve placed your order, you’re kept in the loop all the way through the delivery process from your order being prepared, right through to the delivery driver driving down your road. The app shows you visually where your driver is on a map so you can estimate what time your order will be delivered.

I was fully prepared to wait the full two hours of my delivery slot for my order but to my surprise, my order came within an hour and a half of ordering it. How amazing is that? All my items were delivered and I had fresh bread for the next mornings breakfast.
The order arrived in an Amazon Prime Now sealed brown paper bag and the whole ordering process was an absolute dream, so easy to do, really convenient and rather dangerous now I know how easy it is to order things that could get delivered to my house within a couple of hours!
