During pregnancy, the body tends to have changes that are at a very fast rate. It’s amazing what the body can do in only nine months. But with all of these changes, it does lead to mixed feelings. Society already puts a high amount of pressure on a woman. This includes their body image, interests, how they act, how they cook, take care of their family, dress, and so much more. There isn’t any leeway for women like there is for men. It’s significantly more difficult for a woman to have confidence compared to a man. Now bring a pregnancy into the equation and it only makes it more difficult.

Pregnancy brings a lot of mixed feelings, the body is changing, you’re different, and you’re seeing your body do things that are only experienced during pregnancy. Not to mention the fact that hormones are raging during this time too. During this next chapter in life, you may feel less confident. This could be how you’re physically feeling, the baby bump, the fact you can’t wear your favorite clothes, but there are plenty of other reasons why expected mothers tend to feel less confident.

It’s important to know that these changes are temporary, pregnancy is temporary, and the state of your body is temporary. But how do you find confidence if you’re just not feeling like yourself? How do you find confidence if you just don’t look like yourself? Since this happens to so many young mothers, it’s best to practice habits that will encourage some self-confidence. So here’s how!

Begin your day with daily affirmations

Positive affirmations are a major part of self-care and building some self-confidence. While it may sound overdone and generic, positive affirmations do work. So how exactly can this work?  Since everyone is their own worst critic, you most likely tell yourself negative things. Negative things about yourself, if you tell these things to yourself enough you begin to truly believe them, right? Well, instead of telling yourself something negative, try to tell yourself something positive instead. It eventually grows into being a habit.

So if you wake up and you immediately begin acting kind towards yourself and give yourself compliments, you’re already starting your day on the right foot. You don’t need to wake up every day and have a long list of what you love about your body. You just need to tell yourself that you love it, you’re proud of it, and you’re proud of yourself for what you’re doing. This can be a powerful habit, and it can truly shape the way you think.

Skip out on social media

Social media is a great place to go for entertainment, we all know that. But social media platforms such as Instagram have been known for causing negative effects on mental health. Social media shows all the highlights, the ups of a person’s life which make viewers believe others’ lives are perfect. Plus, there is more than enough photoshopping, filters, and other photo manipulation tricks that models use.

You’ll other pregnant women with baby bumps, but they look perfect. They’re glowing, they look great, and they somehow have so much energy to go out and have a vacation on the beach.  What’s put on social media isn’t real, most of the things someone posts are being embellished, staged, or photo manipulation is in the mix. Since social media can be a major confidence killer for nearly anybody. It’s best to just drop social media for a while. You’ll feel a lot better by doing so.

Do some exercising

While exercising may make you sweat and feel out of breath, the endorphins that get released will make you feel as if you’re on top of the world. Even when you’re pregnant you should do some exercise. This doesn’t mean you have to exercise hard, but some light exercising is optimal. You also want to make sure that you’re doing something that you know will be easy on the body, and it’s something that you’re going to have some fun with. Stick to a regular exercise schedule, but try not to force yourself. If you force yourself, then you’re simply not going to look forward to it.

So how can you make yourself look forward to exercising? What can be done to excite yourself? You could wear things that you enjoy wearing when exercising. Whether it’s beige leggings, a comfy jumpsuit, or fan gear online from your favorite sports team. Just wearing something that you genuinely like to wear is going to be one of the first steps to feeling good and exciting yourself to work out. You can take it an additional step by getting yourself some cute pregnancy-friendly tennis shoes to work out in. Even doing your hair in a workout-friendly hairstyle such as braids can be a nice boost of confidence as well.

Overall, just look into ways to give yourself that little extra push that you’re going to need in order to stay active. Staying active is going to help make you feel good!

Keep your energy up

Have you ever noticed that you feel sadness whenever you’re tired? Even before pregnancy, this is something common that everyone tends to experience. Sure, it’s understandable to feel sad for needing to get out of bed. But it goes further than this. Fatigue is one of the biggest symptoms of pregnancy, and it’s basically a permanent side-effect of having a baby. Even once your little one has grown, you’re still going to face tiredness.

It’s not ideal, it’s actually far from ideal have to feel tired, but it’s just something that naturally occurs. However, being tired can really affect your mood. It’s going to make you not want to do anything. It’s going to make you feel sad. It’s also going to heavily affect your mood overall. So you have to boost up those energy levels. Feeling fatigued is going to massively impact your confidence. So look into ways to combat this.

Watch your diet

This doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in your wacky cravings. But it should mean that you carefully watch what you eat. What you eat can affect your confidence, what you eat can affect your mood overall. Since you and your baby need a sufficient amount of vitamins and minerals, it’s best to nourish your body with whole foods. So make sure you’re eating enough healthy foods. Eating healthier foods rather than prepackaged-overprocessed foods will help make you feel better and can give you that much-needed energy boost too. So make sure you choose your food wisely.

Get some shopping done

There’s nothing vain or inappropriate about judging your clothes. Clothing is one of the greatest ways we can express who we are. Clothes can reflect your personality, mood, what you represent, and your entire style in general. You want to feel good and look good while wearing your clothes, right? There’s a very high chance that you can’t wear some of your favourite clothes due to your baby bump.

So why no treat yourself to a little shopping spree. It gives you the chance to buy some maternity clothes that embraces your baby bump and highlights other features of yourself. Clothes can be one of the best ways to give yourself that little boost of confidence that you need to get out of the house.

Connect with your body

Pregnancy is the perfect time to truly connect with your body. It’s the best time to get to know yourself and to learn what your body can do. There’s no better way to connect with your body than through movement. This doesn’t necessarily have to be exercise, but movement, in general, is going to give you the opportunity to just explore. This could include doing pregnancy yoga with other soon-to-be moms or just soaking in a nice bath. Just treat yourself right and be amazed at what your body can do.

Listen to what your body tells you

Pregnancy is a beautiful journey, it’s a journey that has plenty of ups and downs but in the end, it’s so beautiful. Just listen to what your body tells you, not what others are telling you. You know your own body best. During your pregnancy, you’re going to hear so much advice, recommendations, and even criticism. Just listen to your own intuition. Just listen to what your body is telling you.

Fall back on your support system

Your support system can be your loving family, sweet friends, and anyone else you love in your life. The saying goes that it takes a whole village to raise a child. To a degree, that quote is completely true. You need to have a support system and that support system will be there for you to help you out. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, don’t be afraid to reach out and vent. Everyone needs help and there is a whole group of people out there whose just waiting to help you out.

While it can be difficult to find your confidence during the nine months of pregnancy, it’s a journey within itself. But once you reach this confidence, you’re going to feel completely unstoppable.
