One of the most popular bedtime stories in our house is the Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks’ award-winning picture book What the Ladybird Heard. The cunning plan of two robbers Lanky Len and Hefty Hugh to steal the farmer’s fine prize cow is foiled by the tiniest, quietest creature, the Ladybird.
Coming to the Town Hall in Birmingham from Tuesday 27th December until Wednesday 11th January 2017, the stage adaptation of What the Ladybird Heard comes to life. The colourful farmyard adventure is performed with live music, puppetry and plenty of audience participation, families are in for a glittering family treat.
What we thought of the show
We really enjoyed the performance of What the Ladybird Heard. We had great seats up in the circle and Olly was really excited to see the show. The performance was just under an hour long which I think was just long enough for little bottoms on seats. We really enjoyed the way the performers incorporated the well known story into the performance played out on stage and it really engaged Olly. The songs were great and we loved the way they used the props on stage and made them into farm animals. It was really clever.
