Dining rooms are a great space to wine and dine with your family and friends. Forget eating out, dining in the comfort of your own home is the way forward. One of the popular trends this year is the industrial look. Think rustic metals, exposed finishes and bare wooden floors and you’re halfway there.
Use rustic metals
The use of rustic metals in dining room furniture is a great way of styling the look. Many table and chairs are made from heavy set wood and embellished with industrial rustic metal (wrought iron or steel) legs. The finishes of the legs would be exposed to show off the simplicity of the workmanship and would look fantastic. These pieces are often brilliant for heavy duty use as they’re built using strong components which is ideal in a dining room setting. The room would benefit from exposed plumbing, a vintage radiator painted black or grey perhaps and simple pipework would work well.

Go back to bare flooring
In rooms where there is an industrial look, walls are either stripped back to expose the original brickwork or are painted white to achieve a more neutral canvas. The flooring in the room would be practical with wood flooring covering the floorspace. Often in living spaces, the original wood flooring has been ruined with years of previous occupants decorating efforts so it’s always a good idea to invest in new flooring to give the room a brilliant foundation to work from. It would also look super stylish and work well in an industrial-styled room.
Keep accessories minimalist
The industrial look is one that exposes the use of the materials of the furniture and accessories. Using clever pieces of decorative items in the room will pull the look together. Using rustic reclaimed wooden shelves and a wall fitted lights with filament bulbs would all look fantastic in this industrial styled dining room. Add black framed prints or go bold on the walls to really make the room come alive.
Don’t be afraid to add in modern touches
The best thing about using the industrial look in your home is that it works really well with modern touches added too. Add texture to the sofas, throw a rug on the floor and utilise modern day appliances in the room.
However you style your modern day industrial look dining room, have fun with it and you can create something really wonderful to enjoy with your family and friends.
