Luckily, there’s a quick and easy way of recreating your favourite chicken chow mein at home as a fakeaway. This is my go-to recipe for recreating a healthy delicious Chinese inspired dish that the whole family will love. Save your syns for that treat and use this low syn version instead.

Chicken Chow Mein – the perfect fakeaway

This Chicken Chow Mein dish uses ingredients that are low in fat and have very low or zero syn values. The syn values of the dish are found in the sweet chilli sauce. Dried egg noodles are synfree and a great way to add texture to the dish.

Chicken Chow Mein

Instead of Rice Vinegar you could also use White Wine Vinegar which makes it a versatile dish if you’re trying to pull a meal together out of the ingredients in your store cupboard. You could also add a bit of heat into the dish if that’s your preference with the addition of hot chilli sauce as well as the sweet chilli sauce. Of course, don’t forget to add the syns values to the dish if you use it.

Add more vegetables to bulk it out

You can use as many synfree vegetables as you like in the dish. Increase the portion size of the vegetables, you could use yellow or green bell peppers. You could also add baby corn and peas to the dish to bulk out the vegetables used.
