Review: JJ Cole Metra Changing Bag – a Dads choice

Ever since Little Mr was born, I’ve had a thing about changing bags. I love them. I own quite a few and like to change them every so often just like I would with my normal handbag. My hubby doesn’t shared the same enthusiasm and will reluctantly carry my changing bag if asked but there are times when hubby has Little Mr and needs a changing bag for a day out and would rather not use my ‘girly’ choice of changing bag.

JJ Cole have recently launched the Metra changing bag perfect for both Mums and Dads and asked us if we would like to review one knowing that hubby would be looking after Little Mr in the school holidays.

We were sent the Metra Changing Bag in Blue Diamond and on first glance, it looks very much a unisex bag with the grey and blue diamond design. It’s stylish and has lots of pockets for storage. The bag has a main storage area with mesh compartments and a couple of pockets perfect for little bits and pieces. There’s a large pocket on the back of the bag and on the front there is a flap that covers more pockets. On the front there’s also a small pocket ideal for keys so you know exactly where to find them. I am forever misplacing my keys and can never find them in my bag.

We really like the insulated bottle pockets on the side of the bag, perfect for keeping milk cool or drinks warm. As well as the actual bag, the Metra comes with some brilliant extras; a detachable dummy pod, a good sized changing mat and a couple of stroller clips which can be easily attached to the bag to hook your bag onto a pushchair. The stroller clips are ingenious and really hold the bag well on the pushchair. They don’t let the bag slip down which can often happen with other pushchair clips.

The bag has a brilliant sized detachable strap which is perfect for wearing over the shoulder, messenger style. Hubby prefers to carry the bag this way and it’s quite comfortable even when fully loaded with all Little Mr’s snacks, nappies and change of clothes for a day out.
Hubby has loved using the Metra changing bag. It’s a brilliant size, very practical and doesn’t really look much like a changing bag which is probably why he likes to use it. I do prefer a more feminine looking changing bag but I cannot fault the Metra for practicability and storage.

The JJ Cole Metra changing bag retails at £54.99 which is a great price and you really do get value for money with all the extras included in the price.
