This summer is all about spending time together as a family and making the most of every day. Back in January, I made the difficult decision to go back to work full time and whilst it has been a much-needed change for us all, it has been quite the adjustment for our family routine. We are taking every opportunity to enjoy family days out together and when diaries allow, take a road trip for a great British staycation. Join us for our family staycation in the Lincolnshire countryside.

Everyone knows how unpredictable the British weather can be so packing clothes for a week away is always tricky. If the sun comes out, their preference will be boys shorts and t-shirts with a hoody or jumper for when the sun goes down and they still want to play outside. If the temperature drops, joggers and hoodies are packed to keep the chill at bay.

The boys are now aged 10 and 5 with strong personalities and love to choose their own clothes. They’re both quite active so we love to choose comfortable clothes that allow them to climb at the park, ride their scooters, and play ball games over the fields with friends.

Freddie is wearing shorts and t-shirts from the new Lucy Mecklenburgh collection and he’s loving wearing them. I love the simple, colour block panel design with fun dino motif.  Both the t-shirt and the shorts are cotton made which is softer against his skin. The perfect outfit for adventures with his big brother out on their scooters.

Olly has chosen Levi denim shorts and an Adidas t-shirt. He’s more aware of brand names now he’s getting a bit older but thankfully not bothered by designer clothing as long as the fit and style are comfortable and allow him to stay active outside.

When it comes to packing clothes for me for a family staycation, I like to take comfortable, colourful clothes that allow me to join in the fun with the boys and a couple of outfits that are suitable for a dinner out at the pub or a local restaurant.

As I’ve got older, I like to wear colour in my clothing. I love an animal print and love this black and white dress. It’s a great fit, has great sleeves and feels lovely on.

For warm summer evenings, I like to wear a playsuit with shorts. I probably wouldn’t be brave enough to wear this out to the pub but I would wear this for when we have a barbecue and evenings on the decking with a glass of Pimms.

I like to pack light in terms of footwear and always take a pair of flats for during the day and absolutely love these Bobs white pumps. They are so comfortable and look brilliant with jeans, palazzo trousers, day dresses and playsuits. They’re a real staple for staycations.

We are looking forward to a week of lazier mornings, walks around the lake, pub lunches and sunshine-filled evenings relaxing and enjoying quality family time together.
