When I was younger I always remember my Mom saying how quick time used to go. I never believed her as the time felt like it stood still when we were younger and at school but now as an adult, I know exactly what she meant. The months are flying and I can’t believe we’re at the end of October already. We’ve had half-term and we’ve been enjoying all the colours of the season outside.
Being outside in October
We’ve been making the most of our weekends together by spending as much time outside as we can. Although the weather has been a bit rubbish, we’ve been to Cannock Chase for a Sunday afternoon walk and we booked a visit to Calke Abbey during half-term.
I really crave outside time where I can feel like I can breathe properly. Living in a town that feels quite built up, is quite claustrophobic sometimes and I love having the space to explore. Seeing fields and the trees is so freeing, it really helps my mind feel less cluttered. If it helps me, I’m sure it helps my boys too!

We had some photographs taken of the boys for our annual Christmas card and they are so beautiful. I can’t wait to show them off in December. Our photographer, Faye Watson, is a family friend and her photographs are really stunning. She made the most of the weather and set up a beautiful Christmas scene outside in the forest.
Exploring Calke Abbey
Yesterday we headed up to Derbyshire to visit another National Trust property and estate. We pre-booked our tickets and put the wellies in the boot of the car and set off to explore. The boys really loved the outside space. It was raining and the puddles were filling up with water, of course Freddie jumped straight in and completely soaked his trousers, socks and the insides of his wellies. He was in his absolute element, he loved it.

November is looking like another month of restrictions so I’m hoping we can book more weekend days outside enjoying the season and packing a spare set of clothes in the bag with a towel!
