April in lockdown wasn’t something we envisaged at all but that was our reality. Olly was still off school and Greg was working from home. Freddie and I had our routines disrupted and we all tried to cope with a new level of normal for the foreseeable. It’s been very different to previous Aprils but we’ve tried to make the best of it. Here’s our highlights of our lockdown in April 2020.

Highlights of our April 2020

M U M M Y

  • Spending more time with the boys at home
  • Having time to bake and spend more time in the kitchen (not so great for the diet though!)
  • I’ve watched a lot more TV than usual. I have enjoyed Race Across The World and Series 4 of Our Girl. I’ve also started watching Our Girl from the beginning and really enjoyed watching it all back-to-back.
  • Enjoying some time for hand lettering and taking the Blink Lettering course practising my hand lettering and letter formation.

D A D D Y

  • Despite lockdown he had a nice birthday with a chocolate birthday cake and an M&S meal deal dinner (we know how to live!)
  • Playing Darts in the garden enjoying the sunshine
  • Re-watching the BTCC touring cars from last season on DVD (A birthday gift from his Parents).
  • Enjoyed playing with the boys in the garden, making dens and washing cars.
  • Enjoying cooking more in the kitchen and baking scones!

O L L Y

  • He’s been enjoying a more relaxed routine of lazier mornings and later evenings – no rush to get ready for the day ahead
  • Has enjoyed speaking to family on Skype and FaceTime, keeping connected and sharing smiles and bedtime stories.
  • Loved the Easter egg hunt in the garden.
  • Playing on his Xbox with his cousin and developing a love for Minecraft.
  • Getting outside in the garden as it gets dark looking at the stars and spotting satellites flying over.

F R E D D I E

  • Has loved having his older brother and Daddy home more often. Being able to play with Olly during the day and see Daddy has been brilliant.
  • Has found a love for washing cars and playing with chalks on the wall in the garden
  • His speech has come on leaps and bounds and we’re now having full conversations with him about what he wants to eat and what he wants on the TV.
  • He loves his scooter and alarmingly, can go rather fast
  • Loves a FaceTime story read by Grandad
April Me and Mine 2020

At home in April has been frustrating and enjoyable in equal measure but we’ll focus on the positives for now. May is looking like it will be more time in lockdown but if my family and friends are all safe and well then we need to do our bit and stay away and stay safe.

We isolate now so when we gather again,
no-one is missing
