If you’ve found the last eighteen months stressful, you’re not alone. The pandemic has impacted on us all in many ways and you may be feeling exhausted, worn out and in need of a good ol’ dose of self-care. With freedom day (the day the UK relaxes it’s pandemic restrictions) approaching on Monday 19th July, it’s now time to focus on regaining some time for yourself and for allowing yourself the self-care to grow strong both mentally and physically. Here’s 3 ways to make time for yourself after freedom day.

Make a date with yourself
Just as you would with a friend or partner, make a date with yourself and book some time out of your busy schedule for self-care. Book out your diary and set aside the time to reconnect with yourself. Give yourself time to enjoy some of your favourite foods, run a hot bath with your favourite bubble bath or bath bomb, light the candles, pop on a hair mask and enjoy the moment. Self-care looks different for each and everyone of us so it’s important to take time to do something you enjoy and not feel guilty about doing so. Any acts of self-care should be fulfilled with the aim to help you relax and recharge.
Have a little fun
The effects of the pandemic have disrupted many relationships so it’s not surprising that your relationship with yourself may have suffered too. Do you feel disconnected with yourself and have not allowed yourself time to enjoy sexual pleasures? With many people allowing themselves time to enjoy new freedoms, it may be time to enjoy some new sexual freedoms too. Is now the time to buy yourself a new dildos and enjoy some time exploring new sensations? Perhaps it’s time to explore your fantasies and add different toys into your sex life? There’s lots of toys to enjoy, perhaps strap ons would allow you new sexual pleasures you’ve been lusting for? There is something for everyone, don’t be shy. Have a little fun and allow the toys to entertain you.
Turn up the music
If you’ve been living with family during the pandemic chances are you’ve not had chance to enjoy your own music or your favourite TV show. With freedom day enticing people back out, it’s time to take advantage of the time when you’ve got the house to yourself. Pick out your favourite album, turn your speakers on and crank up the volume. Music helps us to forget the outside world, it transports you into a happy place where the beat and rhythm help to wash any any worries. The magic of music is one of life’s simple joys that should be enjoyed whenever we can.
Whatever you do this freedom day, look after yourself and put yourself first. Being a priority is essential for your personal wellbeing and must be prioritised as much as possible. Do you have any plans to enjoy time for yourself after freedom day? I’d love to hear them!
