When time is valuable, you may not want to spend days, or even weeks, trying to completely change the appearance of your garden. This could especially be the case if you are trying to do so in limited light, or if people are about to come over for a visit. Rather than simply leave your garden the way it is, there are some ways that you can improve how it looks in under 60 minutes. This way, you can spend more time actually enjoying yourself, and less needing to undertake a variety of different chores.

One of the first alterations you may wish to consider could be adding some form of lighting in your garden. This can make it wonderful to spend time outside right into the later hours, especially during the summer months. Something as simple as hanging festoon LED garden lights can allow you to accomplish this. These lights can then be plugged into a standard 3-pin socket, which could be useful for those who have electricity outdoors. Even then, due to the LED bulbs, you may find that they cost less, and last longer than their halogen counterparts. It can be important to opt for a set that mentions capability for outdoor use, to minimise the likelihood of faults or injuries caused by the weather.

Running the mower over your lawn can also be a good way of making it look more refined than it did to start with. If your lawn looks a little patchy, you may want to put down lawn feed. This will help replenish your lawn with fresh grass to help maintain it’s fullness and colour. Once the grass is mature, many people find that they like the way that lawn stripes look, so you could opt to take this into account when completing the task. Simply pushing your mower up and down the garden, in lines, can give a great effect, achieved by the way that the mower pushes the grass blade, bending it into shape. Regular trimming may also help to keep the grass in good condition, however, you may want to make sure that you do not remove more than one-third of the length, as this may cause dis-colouration.

Putting out some different plants might also be advisable, especially if your garden lacks a bit of colour. It can be off-putting to spend time, or even eat, outside when there are a number of insects around, especially those that could bite or contaminate food. Spending a few minutes planting some varieties with insect repelling properties may not seem like an arduous task, but can make your time outside that much more pleasant. This may be especially helpful for those who find that they have adverse reactions to bites or stings.

Many people might think that garden improvement involves a high budget or a large amount of DIY. Instead, it could simply involve considering the ways that you use your outside space, and the smaller ways that you can make things better. In doing so, you may find that you are able to overcome a number of obstacles that, up until now, have prevented you from gaining maximum enjoyment from your garden.
