They say all good things must come to an end and today was the day hubby had to go back to work following his paternity leave. Unfortunately, we think Olly must have known something ‘different’ was happening and he wouldn’t settle well at all last night. He was wide awake at various times through the night (11pm / 1:30am / 2:15am / 5:30am) and we eventually got up as hubby was getting ready for work at 6:30am.
Luckily after a nappy change and a feed, we managed to both fall asleep in the lounge and got a couple of hours rest in before we were rudely awoken by the dog barking at the bin men outside. Since then, I’ve managed to put a load of washing on, get myself dressed and sort the clothes out. Go me!
We had visitors too this afternoon which was lovely. My friend and her little girl popped in for a cuddle and a catch up. Why do little boys wait until you’ve got guests to fill their nappies? And it’s so smelly! It’s amazing how something so small can create something so foul! It was great to catch up and have a good natter.
I’m sure it’ll all feel a lot more natural to me in the next few weeks but I’m still not comfortable leaving Olly asleep downstairs in his Moses basket for more than a couple of minutes whilst I potter around the house getting the jobs done. How do people shower and get the housework done with a newborn? I’m guessing they don’t!
Hubby is home now from work so I’m taking advantage with a freshly made hot cup of tea and will be getting a shower to feel a bit more human. So first day flying solo nearly done and so far so good! Wish me luck for the rest of the week…
