Having been an avid Pinterest user for a couple of years now, I knew that this Christmas we just had to get a bit crafty and make some of these adorable footprint Christmas Trees. These have very probably been blogged a million times already but as it’s Little Mr’s first Christmas I think we can get away with showing you how we made ours. We loved getting a bit messy, we had some fun and we made wonderful crafty keepsakes in the process.

They are super easy to make and with a wriggly baby you’re sure to get a different result each time making each piece of art unique.

What you need:

1 x wriggly baby (in as little clothes as practically possible)
1 x paintbrush
1 set of baby friendly paints
Some White card
Packet of wipes and hot soapy water on standby

How to…

1. Prepare baby for impending painting session

2. Pour a small dollop of paint into a cup (or egg box) and then paint on a layer onto baby’s foot (be warned, wriggly babies will hate this as it will tickle their feet, they will get paint everywhere, even in their hair!)

3. Once you’ve painted their foot, make sure you have a flat surface to lay their foot down onto. Press the foot down hard, being careful not to smudge the foot so that there is a baby footprint on the card.

4. Dependent on the design you want to make, repeat the footprint (as above) or keep the masterpiece to one sole footprint.

5. Clean baby’s feet or more paint will cover your table, your clothes and get in your hair!

6. To decorate the footprint Christmas Trees, paint the tops of baby’s fingers in different coloured  paints and decorate the trees with fingerprint baubles.

How fabulous do they look? Little Mr and I have created a few designs using Little Mr’s footprints and fingerprints and they look brilliant. We had a lot of fun, got paint in our hair and made some lovely arty pictures for Christmas.
