Whether you live in a suburban setting or in lofts in Toronto, working from home is becoming the new normal for many of us. This is why a lot of people are putting time and money into their own home office. Working from home is becoming the new normal for many of us, so a lot of people are putting time and money into their own home office. When designing a home office, you need to consider things like ergonomic furniture and natural light, but have you put enough thought into colours?

Colour has a big impact on your concentration levels and your ability to work productively. The wrong colour choice can have a big negative impact on your work, but a lot of people don’t realize how important it is. So, which colours are best for your home office?

Warm Grey

You might think that grey is the worst colour for a home office because it’s dull and uninspiring. However, that’s exactly the reason that it works so well for certain people. If you’re the kind of person that struggles with concentration, loud colours on the walls are just another distraction. But a warm grey fades into the background and helps to boost your concentration. The other great thing about grey is that it works well with most other colours, so you have more freedom with your other decor choices. However, be careful about the flooring you choose for your home office if you’re going with grey walls because you don’t want it to be too dark in there.

Dark Blue

Coastal colours are very popular right now and you can incorporate that trend into your home office. You can expect a lot of people, as seen in Decorating With Elle Decoration By Crown in 2021 to be using nice blue tones throughout the house, and they’re particularly good for the home office. Although dark colors can be a risk in a home office, blue can be quite luxurious, which makes the office an enticing place to be rather than somewhere that you hate coming back to. From a practical standpoint, dark blue is a good background for computer monitors because it removes distractions.

Warm White

On the other end of the spectrum, you have warm white. If you have a small home office and you think that dark colours are going to make it feel too cramped, why not open things up with some warm white walls? Again, it’s a brilliant way to remove distractions and it helps to reflect natural light around the room. Studies show that increased natural light helps with focus and productivity, so white is a good choice.

Muted Green

Finding colours that help you stay calm and manage stress while you’re working is important for some people. If that sounds like you, muted green is a brilliant option. A bold green can be a bit too distracting but a quiet green is very relaxing and helps you stay focused. A pastel green paired with some white furniture creates a nice, light space. Add some houseplants to top off the look and you’ve got the perfect home office.

Choosing the right colour for your home office is so important if you want to stay productive, so get some testers and try out a few options.
