Me and Mine Project // August 2020

What a summer! I’m a little bit sad we’re at the end of the summer already. It’s been brilliant and we’ve had so many adventures. August is always a month that I associate with holidays and visiting new places yet this August has been one for staying closer to home and day trips. With Covid still around, it’s certainly been different to other summer months that’s for sure but we’ve still all had fun.

What we enjoyed in August 2020

M U M M Y

• has loved how the bedroom redecorations have gone. Both rooms look brilliant and the boys have settled in their room brilliantly.
• braved doing a LIVE on Instagram with Fi Star-Stone on the Mother & Baby account talking about infertility. Now’s the time for getting out of comfort zones!
• has enjoyed taking the boys out for afternoons at local National Trust properties. There’s so many around the Midlands to enjoy, we can’t wait to explore more.
• has really enjoyed visiting Emma Bridgewater for Afternoon Tea (twice – once for her Wedding Anniversary and once for her sister’s birthday celebrations)
• helped pull together some baby shower goodies for her friend Helen’s Virtual Baby Shower and it was brilliant. We all had a wonderful afternoon giving Helen some virtual love.
• has loved visiting the Sunflower Fields at Becketts Farm and the Confetti Fields in Pershore. Who knew flowers could bring so much joy!
• has loved finding out all about her family history. She’s discovered extended family members were in the Birmingham City Police and worked during the Peaky Blinders era. Genealogy has been fascinating and has been really interesting to work on.

D A D D Y

• enjoyed a weeks annual leave finishing off the bedroom redecorations. He worked so hard to make sure it was all done during his annual leave.
• loved having a day out in Lytham on the beach and enjoying the seaside activities (we took the boys on the miniature railway, Olly played Crazy Golf and enjoyed the trampolines).
• enjoyed taking the boys and our nephew to Statfold Barn Railway riding on steam engines and watching the boys brave holding snakes!
• has enjoyed the BTCC returning to the television. He’s been gutted they haven’t been able to go and watch it in person but glad they can watch it on TV.

O L L Y

• has loved everything!!!! (his words!)
• has enjoyed endless Minecraft Xbox sessions with his best friend and his cousin. It’s a new obsession!
• enjoyed a trip to the seaside. We ventured up to Southport and stayed overnight so we could enjoy a day on the beach at St Annes-on-Sea.
• has loved lazy mornings watching YouTube, late-ish nights watching random TV programmes and staying in his pjs all day.
• has loved reading Paddington with his Daddy at bedtime.

F R E D D I E

• has moved into his new ‘big boy’ bed and has taken to it brilliantly. He initially fell out of bed so we bought a bowling aisle style bumper for the other side of his bed, since then he’s slept brilliantly! Well done Freddie!
• has loved seeing his little friends again. He’s missed the interactions with them so much. He cannot wait to start Nursery next year already!
• has loved playing in the paddling pool during the really hot summer days.
• enjoys watching random YouTube videos on Mummy’s ‘die-pad’, and has already subscribed to three channels all by himself!

It’s been a wonderful August full of adventure and fun for our boys which is just how it should be. The redecoration project was quite full on but it worked well and is brilliant for us all. I’d love to schedule in some more DIY when funds allow but lots of progress has been made this summer.

September brings the new school term. Olly goes into Year 3 and I think he’s going to really enjoy it. Freddie will be starting his new term at Phonics and there will be plenty of days out with Mummy and his Grandparents too. I’m on a mission to get organised with meal planning, making time for exercise and getting healthier!
