It’s a story we all know and love, can you believe the Very Hungry Caterpillar is turning 50 years old this month? The Very Hungry Caterpillar, written by Eric Carle is well known in our house and has been read to both my boys on numerous occasions since they were very little. The story and the artwork from the book are iconic and has fans, like us, all around the world. To help us celebrate the milestone we were kindly sent some products to try out and they’re so lovely, I can’t wait to show you them so you can go and buy them for your Very Hungry Caterpillar fans!

I often joke that Freddie, is infact, the Very Hungry Caterpillar. His appetite some days is incredible. We were sent this fantastic tabard and hat costume and I couldn’t wait to dress Freddie up. It’s available from Party Delights, RRP £13.99.

If your child loves nature then they will love the Very Hungry Caterpillar Butterfly growing kit. The kit includes a voucher for live caterpillars (these are redeemable at an additional cost), a reusable habitat and a butterfly feeder. I am slightly apprehensive about this product as I don’t like anything that flies but I’m willing to put aside my fear to entertain my boys as they watch the caterpillar transform into a beautiful butterfly.

My eldest son loves to bake (and make a mess) in the kitchen and is always asking for his own tools. This Very Hungry Caterpillar children’s baking set from Portmeirion is brilliant and ideal for little ones who want to get their hands messy in the kitchen. It includes mixing spoon, mixing bowl and apron. RRP, £21.00

We were also sent some Cawston Press Apple Juice cartons and Freddie has really enjoyed them. He’s just learnt how to drink through a straw so is finding it highly entertaining that he can drink the whole carton. A great way to get little ones to drink more! Available from Ocado and Waitrose, RRP £1.65 for 3 x 200ml.
