Our beautiful little boy, you’ve been a joy to have around (mostly) over the last nine months and I cannot believe that from today onwards you’ll have been on the outside here with us longer than you were in my tummy. It’s been an incredible nine months and you have completely turned our world upside down.
Looking back at how much we desperately wanted you in our lives is painful. We never dared to dream that you would be as wonderful as you are. We had resigned ourselves to being parents to just one beautiful boy for a long time but you surprised us and made my wishes for our family come true!
You’re changing so much every single day. Just on Sunday you decided that commando crawling on your tummy was old school and you put one knee in front of the other and off you went. Freddie you can crawl, you clever little boy. There’s absolutely no stopping you now though, you’re trying to pull yourself up on things; the playpen, the highchair, the door. It won’t be long before you’re climbing up and walking around. I’m so not ready for this yet. Why do you have to grow up so quickly?
Over the last month you’ve been having a day away from Mummy as you’ve been looked after by Nanny and Grandad. They absolutely adore having you and spending time with you, getting to know you without Mummy or Daddy around. They did the same with your older brother too and they have such a wonderful relationship with him, it’s wonderful to see that developing with you too.
I already know you’re very different to your brother (although if looks are to go by, you’re the spitting image of him) I don’t want to make the same mistake twice and for you to suffer with separation anxiety that haunts you doing every day things; going to bed, going to school, staying with family, like it does with your brother. It’s definitely not easy leaving you but it’s for your own best interest and will hopefully make you an independent confident child.
You recently had your first experience of soft play. You absolutely loved it and both you and your friend Freddie were climbing up all over the place, exploring and having fun. It was so lovely to watch. You slept well afterwards too, perhaps we’ll go back again, ha!
Freddie, you’ve been an absolute delight over the last four weeks. You’re smiley and chatty, inquisitive and brave. And you still don’t have any teeth, where are they?! We love you so, so much.
