Last Saturday, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting up with friends for afternoon tea and a good catch up. The last time I met these girls I was so nervous. It was the Slimming World Christmas lunch at SW Head Office and I didn’t know them all. I knew some of them and had followed them on Instagram for SW inspiration and meal ideas so it was so exciting to meet them all. Since then, we’ve been speaking pretty much every day and wanted another chance to catch up.
We decided upon Birmingham for our meet up as it was pretty central for everyone to get to and we planned an afternoon of champers, yummy sweet treats and chat. I say we, it wasn’t anyone but Gemma to be honest, what this lovely lady doesn’t know about organising an event isn’t worth knowing, she’s incredible and kept us all in check and even surprised us with some very special touches on the day.
We decided to have afternoon tea at the Aria restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Birmingham. If the hotel is good enough for the Prime Minister then it’s good enough for us! The hotel is beautiful. It’s beautifully decorated with modern touches here and there so was the ideal place for our meet up.
On arrival, the Hyatt had organised some drinks for us which was a lovely welcome and Angela had made some key rings for us to commemorate the date, such a cute touch.
We had organised a sneaky mini-baby shower too for Phoebe who is expecting her first baby in the Summer so we all bought a few little gifts for her and bump.
We took our seats at the back of the restaurant and Gem had printed off some photographs for us all to keep of our last meet up back at SW Head Office. Again it was such a lovely thoughtful touch.
Some of the girls didn’t order the Afternoon Tea and had selected (on plan) meals off the menu. I wasn’t one to turn down a champagne afternoon tea and to my absolute delight, it was delicious and just the treat I needed. Please avert your eyes now if you think I was good and didn’t eat any cake, definitely not SW friendly.
The afternoon tea towers arrived and they were almost too good to eat. Each tower served three and there were layers of delicious sandwiches, scones and sweet fancies to enjoy including Pistachio & White chocolate tart, Mojito Posset and Passionfruit Eton Tidy. Some of us were served Brut Champagne and hot pots of tea which went down far too easily. The service was great and we were really well looked after.
Most of us stayed over at the hotel too as we had planned to go out later in the evening for drinks. Our rooms were great, very clean and perfectly appointed.
We also had a lovely little welcome chocolate left in our rooms too.
If you’re looking for a warm welcome, great service and a delicious afternoon tea, we can definitely recommend the Aria at the Hyatt Regency in Birmingham.
Disclosure: We paid for all our own meals and rooms for the weekend. We had such wonderful service at the Hyatt, with thanks to Nav and Katie for helping Gem organise a wonderful event. Also, a huge big thank you to Gem for organising such a great meet up, let’s get cracking with the next one!
