BRIO Railway Starter Set and Starter Track Set | review

I‘ve written before that Olly is a huge BRIO trains fan and our Friday afternoons wouldn’t be the same without a complicated railway being laid out on our play room floor. We were recently sent the BRIO Railway Starter Set and Starter Track Set to review and we’ve enjoyed putting them together and playing trains together.

The BRIO Railway Starter Set and Starter Track Set are available separately but work well together to create a large and varied track system. As with all BRIO track, the wooden pieces fit together and you can add to the collection over time.

BRIO Starter Set Track Set

The BRIO Railway Starter Set is the ideal first set of BRIO for little ones. Perfect for introducing children to the joy of building their very own railway and pushing a train around the tracks. The starter set includes 16 track pieces, a bridge, a three-piece train, a signal, three BRIO people (train driver, a man and a woman) a BRIO suitcase and a wooden bench.

The track can be fitted together to form a simple figure of 8 design which is simple for little ones to learn so they can play independently (once you’ve put it together for them on several occasions!)

BRIO Starter Track Set

The Starter Track Set is a brilliant addition to expand any BRIO collection. The starter track set includes 13 pieces of wooden track including three track dividers, a dead end piece and some pieces that have the same ends allowing for fixing together pieces of track that ordinarily wouldn’t fit together.

By combining both of the sets together, you can create lots of different tracks and the possibilities are endless. Included in the box is a leaflet with some track designs on which have been fun to put together. Of course, you don’t really need the leaflet when the children are around as they love to use their imagination and make up track designs as they go.

BRIO People

Olly has loved putting the two sets together and has pushing the train up over the bridge into the station. He loves the little people too and it’s great that they are included in the Railway Starter set as sometimes these are only available to buy separately.

BRIO Starter Set Track Set

Overall, both the Railway Starter Set and the Starter Track Set are brilliant to set up any budding train enthusiasts first railways. They would make excellent birthday presents and are a brilliant and affordable way to build up a BRIO collection.

My boys both used to love train sets like this when they were smaller. There’s just something so nice about wooden toys as well, much nicer than plastic.

I love Brio trains, I think I love them even more than my little boy…I think it stems from my childhood, playing with sets in The Early Learning Centre but never being able to afford to buy any. I have rectified that with my kids having bought more Brio than we know what to do with. And there is still more to buy!

BRIO train sets are the best! timeless design and extremely well made – they’re definitely toys to hand down generation to generation – a rare thing in this day and age
