Kazam Trooper 540 Review | the ideal starter smart phone

B ack in the day when I was at college, I bought my first ever mobile phone. It was pretty much a brick with the tiniest screen but I thought it was pretty cool as it let me send emoji’s to whomever I was texting. It was a basic model which cost me a weeks wages yet all it did was make phone calls and send text messages. Fast forward to the present day and I am in awe of what technology the youth of today have access to. We have been reviewing the KAZAM Trooper 540 and as a starter smart phone on Pay As You Go, we are pretty impressed.

Kazam Trooper 540

Features

The KAZAM Trooper 540 is packed full of features that you would expect on any touch screen smart phone; 4 inch colour screen, access to the internet and social media, wi-fi ready, bluetooth, FM radio, it has a music player as well as a 3.2 megapixel main camera plus forward facing camera and access to plenty of Android apps to fully customise your phone to suit your lifestyle.

As well as the great list of features, the Trooper 540 comes with a free cracked screen replacement guarantee, a three year warranty and KAZAM Rescue which provides remote access support for its users.

What’s more, it has a removable battery (which not many smart phones have at all these days), space for a portable SD card allowing you to expand the storage on the phone for all those videos, selfies and files and comes with a charger, earphones and USB cable.

Ideal starter smart phone

As a starter smart phone, the Trooper 540 is ideal for older children who want their first phone with access to the latest social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. One of the best things for me as a Parent is that this mobile is available on Pay As You Go so there’s no horrendous bill looming. You would always be in control of your (or your child’s) spending and you can top up the balance as and when needed.

Both my Mom and Mother-in-law are mobile phone users but have pretty basic phones that just do the basics. Since Olly came along, my Mother-in-law has loved taking photographs on her phone but her phone doesn’t support her in doing anything with those photographs aside from storing them on her phone as a portable look book. This KAZAM Trooper 540 would be perfect for her as she’d be able to still take and make phone calls, send and receive text messages as well as take photographs of the family and send them onto her friends via social media or email.

How much?

The KAZAM Trooper 540 is available exclusively on Virgin Mobile and can be bought for just £44.99 which includes£10 top up. I think this is brilliant value considering you are getting a credit balance and a good tariff.

One of the main concerns my Mom would have about buying a smart phone is the cost. She wouldn’t want to spend a small fortune on a phone that she doesn’t really understand or would cost her money every month as she paid for data that she didn’t know she was using.

On Virgin Mobile there are tariff packages to choose from making the most of your money whether its data you want each month or calls and texts. We selected the Big Data and Texts tariff which allowed me to get 1GB of data and 3000 texts (back in the day I would have probably used those texts up within a month but those days are long gone and data is much more my poison) this allows use to use social media and be in control of our monthly spends.

The KAZAM Trooper 54o gets the thumbs up from me. It’s a smart looking phone with a colourful screen and has access to social media and internet browsing. All of which I would have absolutely loved in my first ever smart phone. If you’re looking for a last-minute Christmas gift for someone in need of their first smart phone that won’t break the bank, I would definitely recommend the KAZAM Trooper 540.
