Living Arrows – Week 48
“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” – Khalil Gibran
This weekend we managed to catch up on some of the to-do list which happened to include writing Christmas cards. Olly helped write the Christmas cards for his Nanny and Grandad, his Uncles, his Aunty and cousin. We wrote down his name on a piece of paper and he very cleverly copied his name onto the bottom of each of the cards. He loves practicing writing and drawing and he can hold the crayon or pencil really well. Once we had written the cards, I asked him if he wanted to write his letter to Santa and he excitedly said yes.
My friend Zoe has a great Letter to Santa printable on her blog so we printed it off and Olly began to fill in the blanks for his letter to Santa. This is the first time we’ve ever done something like this but he was so excited. We asked him what he wanted for Christmas and Olly must have got a little confused as he said ‘Fridge Raiders and Ham’. I’m not sure if he thought we were writing a shopping list or if Santa works for Sainburys, but we reassured him that he could have those things at any time and not just for Christmas. He eventually settled on some toy cars in blue and grey and a space rocket! His Daddy had to help him write the request on the letter but he was so proud of it.
We’ve popped the letter in the post to Santa and hopefully he’ll get a reply from the main man himself in the next few weeks. He’ll be so excited to see some post with his name on. He’s really good at recognising his own name so he’ll know it’s a letter just for him. I love the excitement in his face when we talk about Christmas, he’s loving the build up and learning so much about our Christmas traditions. Olly’s first Christmas was more exciting for us as parents as we started many family Christmas traditions and I’ve been spoken more about Olly’s first Christmas over on the Toys R Us blog. The next few weeks are going to be so exciting for us all. It’s all just so magical.
