I love a good wedding…

I love a good wedding…

On Thursday we made the trip down south to prepare for what has got to be the wedding of the year and one that I have been looking forward to attending for a long, long time! My gorgeous friend Becky, who I have known since birth (our Moms were in the same hospital ward when we were born) and grown up with as if we were family, was to marry the love of her life, Daniel in Windsor, Berkshire.

I was so excited to see my friend become the new Mrs Clarke. If anyone deserves a slice of happiness then this is your lady. She is one of the kindest and most thoughtful ladies I know and would go the extra mile to help you out. I am incredibly lucky that I have her friendship, one that spams my whole lifetime and has literally seen it all. She has found a very special man and I’m so pleased for them both.

I couldn’t wait to see what she was going to wear, her dress had become a highly guarded secret but I knew it was going to be something amazing. My friend is one of those ladies who literally could wear anything and she would look great but I knew her wedding dress was going to be gorgeous. I was one of three bridesmaids wearing a Cadburys purple off the shoulder knee length dress and being the biggest of the bridesmaids I did feel a little apprehensive. I shouldn’t of worried as when I was made up with my hair blow dried, make up applied and heels on I did feel quite good. I was told I looked beautiful in my dress by those who love me so I’ll take that.

love british wedding

The wedding ceremony was beautiful. I was immensely proud and I didn’t cry! We were surprised with a boat trip up the Thames to the reception and enjoyed the sunshine, Pimms and pork pies!

After a great wedding breakfast and evening reception, we left earlier than we would of normally to get Little Mr to bed and then the tears came. I didn’t even know what I was crying about I just couldn’t stop myself. I was so happy. I’m blaming my hormones.

I think the wedding was more than just a wedding for me. It was the realisation of a dreams we’ve had for years. Last March when I went down to London for a girly weekend we spoke about what we both wanted to do with our lives, where we wanted to go, what we wanted to achieve and how we were going to get there. We are both Scorpios so we know how to get what we want if we work hard enough. My friend had said how much she wanted to marry her boyfriend and how happy he made her whilst I poured my heart out about my desire for a baby and how my weight, PCOS and underactive thyroid were all battling against me. I was trying so hard to lose weight and get my body ready for what could have been a daunting experience with hormone treatment but here we are 18 months later and I’ve got my gorgeous Little Mr and my friend is now the new Mrs C.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Clarke and here’s to the next chapter of our lives….x
