Hello 2016. The new year is upon us which brings promise of a whole heap of opportunity.

There’s no ‘new year, new me’ post this year as I’m pretty happy with the ‘me’ as I stand. Of course, I’d love to be 50lb lighter and a little bit blonder in the hair department but hey, I’m working on the weightloss and can book an appointment at the hair salon when they re-open.

For the first day of a new year in a very long time, I’m happy with me. I’m definitely not complacent though, there’s lots more to improve on but I’m going to stop giving myself such a hard time. I’m always striving for something better and it’s exhausting. I’m not just settling for what I have, this is acceptance that actually I’m not that bad and what I have is pretty amazing!

As much as I hate leaving Olly with family during the week, he is thriving. I work hard but I work hard for our family. I try my best at home with keeping up with the housework, there’s always something clean to wear in the wardrobe (okay, it might not be ironed but life’s too short to iron everything) and I’m happy with the meals we cook up to put on the table.

Over the last year, I’ve realised just how lucky I am. Life isn’t perfect, we all have our problems but as I said earlier, I can work on those.

This year, I want to put the laptop down more. I want more date nights with my hubby and I want more weekends away with the family. I want to explore more and enjoy the small things in life (as I always have done) but without the worry and the guilt of what I’m supposed to be doing and just go with the flow.

Here’s to making more of my dreams come true in 2016 and (over) sharing them with you all along the way!

  1. Go for it Emma! Whilst it’s good to have goals, it’s even more important to realise how great you already are and accept things in the here and now rather than only ever looking ahead.

I’m going to try and do the same.

I’ve shared my aims for this year today and tomorrow I’m writing about my motto for the year and my new focus on positivity. Would you mind if I linked to this post at some point as part of it? X
