A collaborative post

Our children are our future. They’re our legacy and as parents we are always looking of ways to enrich our children’s lives. Whether it’s through family adventures, one-off experiences or generally making positive lifestyle changes to enhance all our futures. We are currently in the process of selling our family home to live in an area with more open, green spaces to enjoy and less traffic than our current town. But there is so much to consider and it hasn’t been an easy decision.

The first thing we needed to consider was getting our financial admin in order. Could we afford to move? Thinking ahead to the future means getting ensuring we do everything possible to ensure we are as secure as we can be and that our children’s future is protected. This of course meant looking at any debt, our current income and expenditure, pensions, term life insurance quotes and ensuring that our financial paperwork was all in order. Our accountant has been able to help with preparing accounts and our financial planning consultant has helped us manage our finances so we are in a good position to move forward with our future plans.

The next most important thing to consider was our children. Will they be better off if we move? Ultimately, we hope they will be. They will have a forest to explore on their doorstep and will be able to enjoy more outdoor experiences more frequently. We are hoping to buy a bigger property to live in than our current home which will see us having a bedroom each for the children and they will both have their own space to grow up in. Our boys safety is our number one priority and being able to give them a safer area to live in is something we both thought was really important.

The experiences of the last 18 months have really given us food for thought. Lockdown was as tough for us as it was for everyone and it made us realise what was really important to us. Spending time with all our grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousins and being able to enjoy the outdoors was something we really missed out on and we want to ensure we can make the most of everything if we have the chance to do so.

There are exciting times ahead. We know these things don’t always go smoothly so we are preparing for a few bumps in the road and hope with any luck, this time next year we will be settled in our new home and enjoying our next chapter.
