When I found out I was pregnant back in May, I had to pinch myself. I couldn’t believe I was pregnant. I had waited for this time to come for such a long time, it felt like a dream come true. My pregnancy this time around has been so different to the one I had previously with Olly; I’ve had more sickness, had an iron deficiency and feeling mostly rubbish for the whole of the first trimester. Lots of friends and family have commented on how different my pregnancy has been and I’ve had to agree. It’s been very different so of course, people have thrown around the assumption that I must be carrying a different gender, a baby girl.

Pink or Blue Gender Reveal

We found out Olly’s gender during our 20 week NHS dating scan, both Shilts and I wanted to know what we were having. We’re not very good with secrets, okay, okay, I’m not very good with secrets (I am awful at keeping them!) and I wanted to know to prepare for his arrival and it really helped me bond with him whilst he was in my tummy. How people have the strength to stay Team Yellow during the whole of their pregnancies baffles me, if you’re on Team Yellow, you’re much stronger than I am! This time around, we’ve wanted to know whether Olly was going to be a big brother to a little boy or a little girl so we paid privately to have a gender scan.

I knew you could book a dating scan from 16 weeks so I emailed the clinic where I had my reassurance scan to book it in. Having the date booked in, I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to find out what we’re having and we also decided to take Olly with us too so that he could see his sibling on the screen and for it all to be a bit more real for him. Seeing our baby moving about on the big screen whilst watching Olly watching on in amazement was wonderful to see. His little face lit up and he could clearly see the baby moving about, stretching out and waving their hand around.

So as we’ve now told our family and close friends, it’s time to reveal if Olly’s having a baby brother or a baby sister..

Its a BOY

It’s a BOY!
