If like me, you often scroll through various social media feeds for inspiration for meal times, light hearted news, information on the best places to visit with the children around the UK and ideas for around the home you’ll no doubt have seen parenting perfection versus reality at play. Everyday online I see images of family life perfectly portrayed and wonder to myself if this is actually real or just how someone wants us to perceive it.

What you see on the internet isn’t always reality

Sudocrem, the makers of Britain’s favourite nappy rash treatment, believe that what we often see online is more often than not, not as perfect as it may seem. Their Parenting Perfection vs Reality campaign is one that I just had to support and has had me giggling over the weekend.
As I scrolled through instagram, seeing photographs of other people’s children behaving impeccably with beautiful show home-style living spaces whilst my own children were creating havoc in the lounge when they’re supposedly watching a film. You can only imagine the carnage of popcorn scattered across the floor, my sofa seat cushions pulled off and used as walls for a den and an array of open DVD boxes and discs thrown as the boys decided upon a film. This is real life for me on a very frequent basis.
Sudocrem want parents to celebrate all those imperfect moments and encourage parents to be comfortable in doing so. It’s real life. Parents with children will have toys, crayons, books and socks, randomly scattered throughout their home. Mealtimes are messy and children, especially toddlers, will enjoy mushing their spaghetti bolognese into their mouths whilst the dog waits patiently underneath their seats in anticipation and bath times where the floor is always wet and it’s all fun and games until the toddler has a poo in the bath!

What’s your Parenting Perfection vs. Reality moment?
To celebrate the campaign, Sudocrem are inviting parents to share their real snapshots of family life. I’m sure we all have a camera roll full of snapshots taken to record the moment despite us not uploading them for the world to see. What does your parenting perfection versus reality look like? Each week one lucky winner will be selected and win a £50 Amazon voucher, just for sharing their reality.

How to enter
Taking part is really easy. Await your moment of parenting reality and take a photograph. Head over to the Sudocrem Facebook page and upload it to the pinned post using the hashtag #MyParentingReality. One winner will be selected at random each week winning the £50 voucher. Good luck!
