In one form or another, there is always chocolate in our house. We’re a family that love a little treat after our Sunday dinner every now and then, so when I was asked if we’d like to try out Magija, a chocolate dessert bar, we jumped at the chance.
What is Magija?
Magija are a little bit different. They’re a chocolate dessert bar that you keep in the fridge and that’s because they’re made from a natural milk-based product, curd. They’re made by turning fresh milk into a set curd which is then whisked into a light and fluffy mixture before adding the natural cacao, small chocolate chunks and glazed in a crisp, bitter chocolate. There’s no artificial stabilisers or preservatives added so they’re a great option for the whole family.
What does Magija taste like?
My husband and six year old son are huge chocolate dessert fans so they couldn’t wait to try them out too. My son jumped straight into and ate the Magija straight from the packet. They’re a great after school snack too, really convenient to grab from the fridge and enjoy in the afternoon.
My husband tried Magija as a dessert paired with winter berries after his roast dinner and he really enjoyed it.
What do they taste like?
To describe the taste and texture of Magija, they’re light and fluffy but not so fluffy that they collapse in your mouth. The curd mixture holds the shape really well but when you bite into it, it’s surprisingly smooth. The dark chocolate coating protects the whipped filling and makes a satisfying sound as you bite into it. Magija is a soft, velvety sweet cream-cheese flavour which is quite rich. It reminds me of eating a chocolate cheesecake without the biscuit base.
We really enjoyed trying out the Magija dessert bars. Individually wrapped so you can easily keep them in the fridge and they’re great for the children to help themselves to after school. My husband and I’s preference is to pair them with berries and ice cream to make a complete dish perfect of an evening after dinner. Serve with a hot mug of tea or coffee for a delicious break.
Where to buy them
Magija are available to buy in Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda. Also available in independent food shops and regional stores such as Budgens. As they’re a Lithuanian product, you’ll find them in the World Foods fridge section. A 45g Magija bar retails between 50p – 75p each. This is a great price for such a fresh and delicious product. Well worth a try if you spot them during your next supermarket visit.
